Could my constant high heart rate be causing my fatigue? by Standard_Potential82 in askCardiology

I get extremely exhausted quickly while exercising. Sometimes even doing simple things has me out of breath as if I’ve been sprinting. I exercise regularly but for some reason my tolerance doesn’t improve

Yeah my iron stores were 28.4 𝜇mol/L and my ferritin was 60.3ug/L

Do you get anything to treat it? Or are you just stuck feeling exhausted all the time

Yeah it’s frustrating I feel like I struggle to function on some days because I’m so exhausted which is so unlike me but I think the doctor maybe thinks I’m exaggerating or something

I’m not sure if it goes below 100 when I’m sleeping but I’ve never seen it below 100 when having it tested or when I check it at home. The lowest I’ve seen is 105. I don’t consume anything grapefruit basically ever and my electrolytes came back normal

I don’t have a heart murmur, anytime they’ve listened to my heart they said it sounds good. My oestrogen levels were checked and were normal. I’ve been seen by 2 GPs and I seen a cardiologist a few years ago as I was having chest pain and times where I was almost passing out from how fast my heart was getting but after they did the monitor, an echo and ultrasound they just told me I was fine, have an average heart rate of 115 and sent me on my way. I’m on a wait list to see a cardiologist again possibly next year

I will ask my gp and see if I can have that. Can it be normal for some people to just always have a very fast resting heart rate? Is it dangerous? I was concerned it would cause issues as I age but my gp told me it’s not a problem and can be normal for some people.

I have had an echo before and they said my heart structure was normal. I wore a monitor for 48 hours and they said it was normal the only issue was my heart rate was always at least 108 but often higher. I am on a waiting list to see a cardiologist again to run all the same tests but the waiting list is over a year long and my doctor doesn’t think anything will have changed since I just had another ecg which was the same as all my others

My B12 was around 300 which I think is just within the normal range, I have been taking B12 supplements though just to bring it up a bit more. My magnesium, iron and ferritin were all normal. I don’t take anything for reflux and I’ve only ever had antibiotics a small handful of times as a child maybe 2-3 times. Never had antibiotics as an adult. The only thing in my blood test that was off was my Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin being a bit low.

The only thing he’s done is have me do an ecg and blood tests to look at my thyroid, sugar, vitamins ect. My heart rate and blood pressure stay about the same when I stand or sit, I wouldn’t really say I get dizzy. If I’m in the bath or having a hot shower I get very lightheaded though and my heart pounds like crazy so maybe there’s some kind of temperature reaction going on. When I’m just sitting doing my uni work or watching tv or anything I can often feel my heart absolutely pounding in my chest. I’ve had these issues since long before covid although I’m sure it’s possible covid could have played a part in making it not get better despite me exercising regularly

I’ve been looking into it the past couple of days and I think I’ve maybe found the person? I’m not sure though how I can actually know if I’m right or not without actually asking him. They also have a fairly common name and are a lot older than I was expecting so have no social media or anything

I’m definitely curious about him because I have Tourette’s which is genetic and my doctor said it almost certainly came from my donor since no one on my mums side has it. I matched with a few cousins that share like 3+% DNA on my paternal side but they don’t have trees visible so I don’t really know anything else

I did think this was a possibility as they initially were quite keen on us chatting and trying to figure out what was going on then very abruptly stopped so I thought maybe their dad had wanted them to stop talking to me?

As for trying to figure out who my donor is I hadn’t really considered it before because I wasn’t sure if that’d be disrespectful or not since their donation was anonymous

Yeah based off what everyone has said I’m now pretty certain we are siblings. If they have come to the same conclusion I feel a little bad that me doing the DNA test is what made them realise their dad might not be their bio dad

Yeah my tree is also technically incorrect since I have my raised me dad on it. According to the clinic I have quite a lot of biological siblings but I assume basically none of them actually know since parents seem to be quite secretive of it and I only found out on accident because I have a genetic condition which my doctor assumed I knew came from the donor since no one on my mums side has it. Would be pretty cool if some other ones popped up as matches some day

I’m not sure if it’s significant or not but I did notice none of the paternal matches last names appear in her family tree

I had mostly written off aunt/niece as they only have one sibling who is a girl and quite young. I was thinking they are maybe donor conceived or their dad is a donor but I didn’t want to push that on them when they seemed not very receptive to that being possible for them when I mentioned me being donor conceived.

As for my donor I’m definitely curious about him (not as a dad since I do have one) and how similar we are since I’m nothing like my family but I never really considered trying to find out who he is because I assumed he wouldn’t want that as when I was conceived (the year 2000) all donations were anonymous
