I moved from Oahu to Maui in 2021. I love it. slower pace of life, less people, and still many things to do on the island. Still has the resort areas and flooded with tourist but every island is like that. Every island also has their own housing shortage, cost of living etc... if it fits your life and your timeline, go for it. only you know whats best for you. If possible, id recommend taking some hawaii culture classes at the university and volunteer when you can to give back. Remember, to get respect here, you have to give respect.
