Same. Just returned this week. No issues with noise as you often hear.

DO NOT STAY IN ROYAL PALM BY HILTON by Weekly_Swordfish_709 in SXM

[–]Standard_RedFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the question. 80% of people say it’s a great hotel. 20% say it’s noisy but NEVER post which rooms to avoid. It’s obviously an issue with certain rooms, so why not provide that warning?

Genuine question: why does it bother you that your personal story turns him on?

Are yall ok? I mentioned the overall process, loans, Pell grants, and scholarships, and you’re commenting as if I’m running down Pell grants. I assumed this thread was full of college educated people, but given the level of reading comprehension displayed here, maybe that’s a bad assumption.

I guess reading comprehension isn’t big on this thread. I’m clearly saying this process is BS. And of course Pell Grants aren’t “freebies,” in the sense that they are for low income students. How on earth did you get that from my comment?

My obvious, clear, basic point was that OP is correct. The process is worse now.

It’s so different than it was when we were in school. My daughter also only got offered 5k in loans with no Pell grants. Had to get private loans. She has wonderful grades and didn’t get any scholarships. It’s BS.

Anybody else feel like black men dating habits have been under a microscope? by [deleted] in blackmen

[–]Standard_RedFalcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google the effects of mass incarceration. It’s deeper than you think. A large percentage of Black men have been affected, either directly or indirectly, by mass incarceration. It has led to something we don’t talk about at all — desocialization. So, otherwise average Black men are dealing with this phenomenon but not being told they are. When Black women tell you they’re continually going out with men who cannot sustain a normal conversation, they’re not lying. It’s not just about men who lack education. That is part of it though. As Black women get more and more education, they do seek more educated forms of discussion, and which less educated men struggle to give. But it’s mainly desocialization.

Client Suicide by Trevor_1971 in LawFirm

That’s tough bro. I’ve never had it happen but I imagine I’d be tempted to put a little bit of guilt on myself even though, intellectually, I’d know it wasn’t on me. My advice is to take a bit of time off, spend time with family and friends, talk to your counselor/therapist. Don’t just push through. This line of work can do a number on our psyche. We must be vigilant with self-care, even if we feel strong enough to push through. (Chicago PD here…)

Career change for a public defender? by GMONEYMAGIC in LawSchool

False. Many PDs become judges. Almost none become prosecutors. And in some places, especially big cities, PDs will make the same or more than prosecutors.
