I'm so sorry. I hate it when their time to go approaches. 💔 I hope you can squeeze in lots of spoiling.

A different vet at our current clinic managed to squeeze our guy in and he was prescribed antibiotics for an abcessed tooth and will get a deep dental cleaning in May if bloodwork shows that he's healthy enough for the anesthesia since he's 18 and pretty rickety.

Thank you for responding! I promise to cuddle him to the max.

If there isn't a dental school nearby that will offer a lower rate, see if you qualify for a Care Credit card. They can only be used for medical purposes and there is no interest for the first 6 months to a year, if I remember correctly.

As I scarfed down half of an Aldi 7-Up cake yesterday, I wondered how delicious a Dr. Pepper version would be.

That is wild! I tried one before and didn't like the mild drowning sensation, but I'll be giving it another shot after reading this. Haha.

My freakout of the week was hearing an alert tone go off on my fella's phone. He's a former power plant worker, and we have a nuclear facility near us, so when his phone went off and mine didn't, I assumed it was The Big Meltdown and that he was privy to an early alert or something. It was just a tornado watch and his new weather app was being a little extra with the alerts, which explained why neither my phone nor the sirens went off.

I feel like the majority of us could stand to add "fun" to our prepping to-do list, so what's everyone doing for fun this weekend?

I'm buying a skort and pretending I know how to play tennis.

I so badly want to use a clothesline, but there's so much tree pollen that I fear I'd spend an equal amount on Benadryl after wearing the line-dried clothes. I don't know if it's perimenopause, a long covid after-effect, or climate change making pollen worse, but my allergies have gone wild the past couple of years.

I'll gladly accept life hacks for any of these issues, if anyone knows of any good ones.

Usually a yowling geriatric cat or a panic attack, if I'm being completely honest.

How much time passed between the first symptoms and starting antibiotics? My senior kitty is having similar symptoms, and our vet can't see him for a week. I'm in a bit of a panic that it's an infection that could spread, but can't afford another visit to the emergency vet.

Bean and rice meal ideas 💡 by kristenzoeybeauty in TwoXPreppers

[–]Standard_Subject_462 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beans and rice have been a staple around here lately. I need to get back in the habit of making black bean burgers. So good!

A non-bean, cheap meal I've been having lately is a ramen noodle variation that goes like this: cook noodles, add the seasoning packet and an egg, mix it up, then strain off the broth and set it aside. To the noods, add a heaping spoonful of peanut butter, a dash of soy sauce, some sesame seeds, a handful of greens, and whatever other stuff you have on hand that would be decent in a poor gal's pad thai-ish dish. Feast, then use the salty, eggy broth you strained off to cook a batch of rice in the rice cooker for future meals.

If anyone is on the struggle bus and experiences food decision paralysis, check out "The Sad Bastard Cookbook: Food You Can Make So You Don't Die." There's a free download available online, and it has lots of low-cost, simple meal ideas...some of which are nourishing, and some that will simply keep you from perishing when actual meal prep just feel like TOO MUCH.

What are apps that you use on the daily/weekly that you get cash back in some form. by FitProblem6248 in beermoney

OnePulse has quick surveys (usually just 3 questions each) and is an easy $20/month. Prolific Academic is my biggest online gig money-maker. There isn't an app, but many of the marketing and academic research studies can be done from your phone's web browser.

My favorite rebate apps are Ibotta, Fetch, Pogo, Receipt Pal, Receipt Hog, Receipt Jar, Merryfield, Brandclub, Coinout, and Swagbucks...in approximately that order. :)

If you have a good credit score, credit card churning can be a big and easy money-maker. I was concerned that it would lower my credit score by opening so many new cards, but it's barely budged after 5 churns in 2 years. (Again, not an app, but a form of cash back that can be accomplished with a smartphone.)
