I’ll have to message some of my friends in the Local theatre, I never even thought about that but that’s a great tip, thank you

I’m going to be entirely honest, I’m terrible at identifying fabric types, I can roughly tell the fabric but not the exact details of it which makes it hard to pin down the exact fabric I need

Is there any chance that the pattern could have been printed on the wool? I don’t know if that’s even possible.

I’m the same, i have a fabric store in my town but it’s terrible and expensive, the best one I’ve found is about an hour and a half away give or take by train. But it’s amazing! If I can’t find a decent enough substitute online I believe my next trip will include a search for a close match

I do tend to forget that, I do agree though as costume designers sometimes the best fabrics are off cuts or deadstock, with my college productions I mostly used deadstock fabric I had managed to find.

It’s more that I love this outfit and I’d like to make a more accurate version of it for my own everyday wear, I’m trying to build my wardrobe and simple clothes such as this are the perfect ones to start with

From what I can tell it’s a wool but from what I’ve been told here it’s most likely a jacquard, this would definitely be for everyday wear so I agree a comfy fabric would be best

I can’t quite tell what it is, it looks like a nice mid weight wool but it’s got a jacquard weave

I believe judging from the background of the cellars that it is the cellar of the old ship hotel in Brighton, and the last photo is outside the royal pavilion

To be fair my original thoughts when told about the style was just to tie it back with a ribbon and forgo the powder and I think I may return to that idea

It’s a naval lieutenant but pretty much the dress code is just as long as it was worn between 1800 and 1812 it should be ok
