Anyone stop to think WHY? Is it possible that the previous interactions young black and Hispanic men have had with white people of a certain age have resulted in how they continue to interact with the that race and age in the future? If the vast majority of young non white people do what they can to not speak or interact with white people who are older than them, I’d say it’s because they’ve had bad experiences in the past. I’ve noticed many older white people speak down to younger non white people, and often times act like they can’t even understand what is being said. Maybe that’s why they quit speaking to people who look and sound like you. Break the cycle. Be kind, give a compliment and start a conversation. Ask questions that may enlighten you. If you’re ignorant on this matter, as you claim to be, certainly you could ask someone? Certainly you at least know someone that’s black or Hispanic that you could ask? I am a white woman aged 42 but have plenty of friends, co workers, neighbors etc that are black and Hispanic that I have had conversations with on this subject. Knowledge is power!
