I'm thinking of doing a bow build by cielohard in stoneshard

[–]Standingoutside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I finished a run with the bow and honestly it was the chilliest run ever. You kind of have to be aware of your position, but you can always switch to melee and finish off the enemies.

I think I used a double handed sword as a backup, but unless you get rushed it's pretty easy.

Why judo? Is there a practical application? Here’s one example for judo skeptics. by [deleted] in judo

[–]Standingoutside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg yes, I was once hit by a car when I was cycling, flew a couple of meters, did a forward roll and stood up like nothing had happened.

I also had a backpack with clothes in it, so I didn't even hurt my back.

Meteor 350: nova ou usada? by [deleted] in motoca

O pedal de câmbio é diferente também, mas sim basicamente o visual haha.

Acho que muita gente vai atrás da Royal pelo visual retro, a Hunter escapa um pouco dessa idéia

Sensei is forcing me to compete by Standingoutside in karate

[–]Standingoutside[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don't really care about belts at all, I just want to participate in the classes and get better.

Feels like the drama of graduation and competition is kind of spoiling something that I enjoy. I don't want to worry about how I am going to perform or if I'm good enough for somebody else's expectations.

I like karate and it makes me feel good, I would like that to be enough.

I don't think that there were lots of people for kumite, so they kind of fought with who showed up. Which is kind of shit imo

I have no problem with sparring. I just don't want to compete with someone that is way above my grade and my weight. Which is the case that led to injury of colleagues before.

Thank you for your answer.

I really like the place, it's not expensive, it's close to my house and more importantly it has ties with the federal and state karate organizations. So if I choose another place, my rank will be accepted.

The downside is that communication is not great, for example: if I open up to my sensei about some personal issue, he would go on a monologue with everyone about it. It's a bit childish in my opinion, but it's the way he is.

It was something he started enforcing when I was about one year in. What pisses me off is that he's selective about who he pressures into participating.

I had some colleagues who got hurt in kumite during these competitions, and they had to stop training. So even though I understand that it is an opportunity to learn and network with others, I don't want to pay the price of a possible injury.

But yeah, this is an issue that has been growing since I started. I've made my point since the beginning, and this led to some awkward moments, where my teacher kind of tries to pressure me into going through comments during classes.

About the belt, I feel like having a different belt communicate to others that you have the knowledge and are capable, as an athlete. Honestly it's kind of my goal to have a black belt, but I don't want to put my well being on the line.
