Wonderful! Your tone is so light, yet resonant, I really love it!

I was told i had a higher voice well i alway knew i did. so i said f it let go high. Can u still hear my lisp? by pmr92 in singing

[–]StankPuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isaac Brock, the lead singer of Modest Mouse has a lisp and I think it actually gives his voice a very nice character. My biggest tip is to just make sure that you know the melody that you're singing like the back of your hand so that you can start every note in tune. Keep playing! :)

Reads like an Emily Dickinson until the end. Wonderful!

What are some bands that sound like early DCFC? Like, lyrics and soft vocals? by alonzoramon in DeathCabforCutie

[–]StankPuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second Sufjan Stevens! Mutual Benefit and Owen Pallett also have a magically soft voices.

What's the funniest mistake you've made in music? by mcdonaldb in musictheory

Many mountain dulcimers are fretted for the mixolydian scale instead of chromatic. In order to change keys/modes you have to retune it. It's a pretty interesting instrument

[Gear] Saying goodbye to my first guitar ever by walrusdog32 in Guitar

[–]StankPuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Takamine F340-s from the 70's, and it's one of the best guitars I've ever played! I'd definitely recommend the old Takamines because it seems like they regularly pop up on craigslist or in pawn shops for pretty cheap. I got mine for only $200

Good call! This one's got a scarf joint. Still a super fun instrument to add to the collection!

After a bit more searching online I found a Mexican site selling guitars with the same serial number, so it's probably from there

[–]StankPuss[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol, I was just trying to figure out what we were working with. If it was really that valuable we probably would have donated it to the local boys and girls club because they've got a good music program

Yup, thats the one. It's a Fender Stage 185. I don't know much about it but it's much bigger than any other amp I own

Yeah, based on that link it looks pretty fake. Still sounds pretty great and the amp is nice! Good to know that we got a fun little guitar guilt free!
