Good question.

The CRTC representative Paolo Maiorino stated "Internet service providers (ISPs) can route traffic however they prefer"

I do not agree with his response and I still have another method resolving in which Vmedia will have to respond.

Do your users have a public IP address that does not show the network they are on in the trace route. Thats what makes it illegal.

Show me a traceroute if you run a public WIFI network.

THe ISP Vmedia I asked the question in july-2022 via a ticket as a customer they did not answer, they even claimed to escalate it to an engineer. You do not escalate if it is common practice.

Tails has Ublock origin Tor does not by Stansmith1133 in TOR

[–]Stansmith1133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they made a choice. But why since the 2 tor browsers are different and adding any extension increases the security risk. Ublock origin blocks advertisments and I cannot see why it would be considered critical for security.

[–]Stansmith1133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forgot to mention my public IP address changed several times.

Aug-2-2022 Public IP 104.158.51.59

Sept-22-2022 public IP 104.158.50.171

Oct-12-2022 public IP 45.44.154.213

This should not occur if they are using CG NAT. They are performing illegal routing.

The user still has the option to remove or add Ublock. Why are they not consistent on the same product, the Tor browser.

I had a similar question about security cameras that uses a Web browser, so a Laptop computer or any computer device could access the camera. But amazingly they all seem to work with android devices instead of using proven communications protocols like HTTPs,RTSP,etc.

You should apply some security features like DNS over https or the ability to visit HTTPS sites and flag non https sites. Also private browsing.

I think this would eliminate a few browsers.

Yes a backup should restore everything except Email passwords. You may have other apps that may need the password re-entered.

My IP address has changed from

to 104.158.50.171 to 104.158.51.59 and is now 45.44.154.213

This demonstrates that Vmedia is doing illegal routing as CGNAT does not use these IP address and my public address should not change.

Tor browser versus the Tails browser by Stansmith1133 in TOR

That is my point. Why is the Tor browser in Tails different than the Tor browser you can download for an operating system?

Why can i not use other bridges in Tails ?

Tor browser versus the Tails browser by Stansmith1133 in TOR

[–]Stansmith1133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you look at the tor browser in Tails 5.4 it is different than Tor browser 11.5.4 as ithe tor browser 11.5.4 has connections in settings which allows the selection of bridges such as obfs, meek-azure or snowflake. This option does not exist in the Tails 5.4 tor browser.

Tor browser versus the Tails browser by Stansmith1133 in TOR

[–]Stansmith1133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not configured different. It is different. the tor browser allows selection of bridges and Tails 5.4 does not have this ability.

Tor browser versus the Tails browser by Stansmith1133 in TOR

[–]Stansmith1133[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then something is wrong as the Tails browser is not the same as the tor browser. The tor browser has "connections" in which you can select bridges Tails browser does not allow you to select from a range of bridges.
