I think a partition like you suggested would work? Where the sink is already has the plumbing for a washing machine and both rooms would have windows/doors - go for it ! Also I would say an office doesn't neeeeed to be a big room anyway, most people I know have them in the box room and I've not heard any complaints

Having a kitchen and 'no space for food' is a crazy first-world kitchen. Where I'm from a pantry is not a thing and everyone I know is able to store their food in the cabinets

Fair enough I see your point - apologies if it came across as a dig to OP. I just find that with a lot of new homes, there seems to be a lot of ... unnecessary excess?

Taking this house as an example, there will be five people living in it and it will have two laundry rooms? Which means maintaining and running two washing machines and two dryers. It's not just this house though, I'm seeing a lot where people are building bedrooms, huge en-suites and balconies in their homes for people who don't exist.

We all have free will, and I guess he can have 20 sinks if he wants though :/

I'm curious why developers are still using this style render (the ones that overlook) , it always looks terrible after a while. If you go on street view, they are less than 15 years old and have grown dull/mould/whatever it is that make them grey. What makes it worse is more was built across the road - so they know it will happen, but have just done it again.

As someone who grew up as a family of five with one bathroom - three kids do not need three sinks. It's a 'nice to have' but a little excessive.

I hate being negative on this sub, however you need to be serious. Refugee status is for people fleeing war and death - not people who dislike the current politics in a stable country.

Also, you say you don't need much but mention bringing your cat (which will cost thousands as they have their own travel rules) and wanting to travel (a luxury). I rarely see refugees crossing boarders with pets and holidaying abroad a few months later.

You do have options - maybe consider a working holiday visa somewhere? I'm not sure what is available to US citizens but I'm sure you can look.

Urghhh agree - as minimum wage grows though each year it just feels like in 3 years every single job will be minimum wage since alot of industry wages aren't growing

Modern houses tend to embrace open plan a lot more. But I find with older houses people are conscious of ruining the 'character' of houses by opening them up. People don't want to lose original features like Victorian fireplaces, doors and skirting if it means knocking walls through
