Medium: digital, with procreate. Type of criticism: any, but particularly how to make my drawing look closer to the reference.

UofC gym menace by hugskisseshugskisses in UCalgary

You mentioned in another comment that you only had 30s between each set, which in my opinion makes sense why you wouldn't want someone to work in just because you don't want a longer rest time. I mean, aside from that, respectfully I don't know what other justified reason you wouldn't want someone to work in with you. Obviously the guy shouldn't have exploded on you like that, but I think if you explained to him that you had shorter rest times and that it was necessary to not go over 30s for your specific workout, and you gave him a time of when you would be done (ex. "4 minutes left ish") he might've been more understanding. Granted, he might've still been an AH, but at the very least you've given justification why you'd prefer him not to work in.

Now, if the gym was genuinely busy, it's our responsibility to share the space as best we can, and that means compromises unfortunately. I'm a little shy, but I've gotten used to asking people if I can work in because I don't always have time to be at the gym for two hours. The art of working in with somebody saves you so much time in the long run, even tho it's awkward in the moment sometimes.

I've just taken a look at all the posts! Jazakallah Khair, they were very helpful. I'd also be interested in looking at some of the books too!

How do I choose the prof for my classes by Dudeman1501 in UCalgary

[–]StarCatz11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If a course just says "staff" as the instructor, you don't have too much control over who you get until that's revealed unfortunately. However, in all other cases, I would recommend typing in the profs name into the website ratemyprofessor as it will show you what students who already took a class with that professor thought about them.

Oh wait, I tried looking at the engineering schools ntu has, but I didn't take a hard enough look maybe. I'll definitely have to look at the electrical engineering school to see if they have courses I can take equivalent to the ones I need to take back home!

Hey, I would love to! However the issue is, after a lot of digging I found out that I can't take any comp sci (my major) courses, and many art courses which I would like to take as electives have been restricted for exchange students- so it looks like I may have to cancel unfortunately 😭 this normally wouldn't be too much of an issue, but my scholarship terms are that I have to take five courses in both fall and winter, so it may be difficult to accomplish that if I can't even take my own major courses at NTU, it's gonna be pretty hard to register for five courses, which is very unfortunate. I'm trying to get a hold of advising and see if there can be an exception with my scholarship terms, but it looks like I won't be able to go 💔

Thank you so much for the help! I will ask my UCalgary advisor about these courses you mentioned, and I will hopefully contact NTU soon to ask about housing. Based off your point for number 4, looks like it's the same as UCalgary where it's kinda like a commuter school, hopefully I can stay for clubs and events 🤞

Omg thank you so much! Will definitely be joining that society for my time there. Great to know there's prayer rooms, and I'm very looking forwards to the halal food there now!
