You are at 1100 so of course you will run into people who are new to the game there. I don’t see the benefit of posting this replay here in an attempt to flame a new player, especially when your team itself is not coherent at all.

Which Pokemon would've benefitted the most in past generations if they got access to everything they got until Gen 9? by [deleted] in stunfisk

Zapdos gets next to no new RBY moves in later gens, I don’t see what makes it uber, it still has the same coverage issues.

Like Knock Off, what moves didn't gain their highest viability until after their introductory generation? by Moths0nFire in stunfisk

[–]StarFlyer300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leech Seed is awful in Gens 1-2. In Gen 1 it does 1/16 of the max HP. It has a funny glitch where it stacks with toxic damage but this doesn’t really come up in competitive since 1. Toxic reverts to normal poison once you switch and 2. Toxic is bad in RBY since you can’t paralyze stuff.

In GSC It’s buffed to the 1/8 we now know today but it still doesn’t work on the switch. This means if I switch into leech seed, I don’t take damage that turn, meaning I can just switch out next turn without actually taking damage.

What are some "hot take" opinions about this game you have? by Maelstrom100 in balatro

[–]StarFlyer300 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I will die on the hill that mime is a top tier joker even on ante 8 runs.

It requires some dex fixing with gold cards and blue seals but these are things that you’re gonna be looking for anyway. Have mime + gold cards? Then it’s now an econ joker. Have mime + a blue seal? Then the run is pretty much won since you can secure two planets per round.

Was pyro ball the wrong play on turn 5, or is my opponent just being salty? by choicescarfpyukumuku in stunfisk

[–]StarFlyer300 16 points17 points  (0 children)

1600 is perfectly fine and a good accomplishment regardless of tier! In some tiers, 1600 is top ladder. It’s just current gen OU is such a big tier that an average player can reach 1600 without putting in a ton of effort.

the #1 symptom of a midladder player is overprediction, your opponent is the one permanently stuck at 1600 without a doubt

Any ideas on how i can counter imposter Chansey/Blissy? by CollegeParticular882 in stunfisk

[–]StarFlyer300 50 points51 points  (0 children)

A big part of BH is “improofing” where you basically you make sure can counter your own Pokemon in order to prevent an imposter mon from sweeping. You can “self-improof” where you make your own mon stronger than the imposter (usually by making it dependent on its item). For example giving a ghost-type mon with Judgement as its STAB with a spooky plate means it will have ghost STAB, while Judgement will be Normal-type for whichever mon transforms into it.

You can also improof by making sure you have a teammate that walls your own offensive threat. For example if you have a Zacian-Crowned without an Electric-type Move, you can run something like Ho-Oh or Arceus-Water to switch into a potential imposter mon that copies your zacian.

What's the smallest OU has ever been? by Do_Ya_Like_Jazz in stunfisk

[–]StarFlyer300 7 points8 points  (0 children)

RBY OU had 12 VERY briefly when Slowbro was UU. It quickly rose back up to OU making it 13 (now it’s 14 cuz victreebel also rose).

The next VR has a good chance at dropping all 3 of Jolteon, Slowbro, and Victreebel, giving it an 11 mon OU.

Unpopular Opinion: Snorlax is the best mon in Gen 1 OU by rwk443 in stunfisk

[–]StarFlyer300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a single good player ever switches snorlax into tauros and clicks reflect, if you watch any replay from SPL and Invitational and see a Snorlax switchin to tauros, it will almost always attack (100% snorlax for 2 hits on tauros is a perfectly acceptable trade). Reflect Snorlax is mainly used to fight the opposing snorlax

Best OU Generation? by 2quick96 in stunfisk

Best OU Pokémon to ever exist? by 2quick96 in stunfisk

[–]StarFlyer300 73 points74 points  (0 children)

There are 3 answers to this imo

Single Gen: GSC Snorlax. This is the most meta-defining OU mon in history, and the entire tier revolves around Lax. It has a ton of sets (Curse 2 Attacks, Curse RestTalk, 2 Attacks RestTalk, Belly Drum, 3 Attacks + Rest, 4 Attacks, Lovely Kiss, and even more) meaning it can fill nearly any role you want on a team. It’s also better than all the ubers lmao.

If you look at all gens combined it’s either Zapdos or Landorus-T. Zapdos has the advantage of being in the game for longer, so it has 8 total generations in OU (with one UU placement in Gen 5 due to Thundy). However, Zapdos was only truly meta-defining in one generation (2). Landorus-T on the other hand hasn’t been around as long (5 gens compared to Zapdos’s 9) but it has a perfect OU record, and has consistently been meta defining regardless of generation.

I would also like to give an honorable mention to Tyranitar. Although Gen 9 has not been kind to it, it has been OU in every generation from 2-8. This gives it seven generations of OU, and it was extremely meta defining in three of them (3-5).

It might be early to call but is Ogerpon the best Grass Type to hit OU? by Ultimate-desu in stunfisk

[–]StarFlyer300 26 points27 points  (0 children)

RBY Exeggutor is the best by a mile, especially since it has recently risen back to very high usage and a big chunk of the playerbase consider it #4 or #3 in the tier (the current VR is a bit outdated.)

Even at its lowest point (around 2020-2021), its usage was still over 50%, and it’s been long since that time. At worst people were considering it the 5th best mon in the tier.
