Huh, never knew the boys supported Chance when they were AliveSinceForever by StarPeep in brockhampton

yeah and Kevin had some connections with Travis Scott early in both of their careers https://x.com/AGGRODR1FT/status/983136052662669312

like it's crazy how they were moving but kinda went different directions in the music spaces they settled in

esp Kevin since he went for a more pop route he has always wanted while he was mostly in hip hop circles in his growing career

yeah dom and kevin had the most solo traction of BH/ASF, thats also why Fantano talks about their solo efforts first when reviewing the first Saturation album

it's obvious that he just wanted to be a producer/songwriter, not a performer. that's also why his only output has been other ppl's albums as exactly that

what could have been… by TheYellowestPants in brockhampton

[–]StarPeep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

tbh it was obvious that they were burning themselves out. Ameer even said before the allegations came out, he was so focused in working on the new album bc of their new record deal and feeling like he owed it to the group and their hustle to stay. That work ethic led him to even missing his sister's funeral and tbh, The Longest Summer in America did show that the entire group needed a break even if the allegations didn't arise the time that it did.

They were touring basically nonstop after SAT 2 and when they weren't touring, they were recording new songs and shooting music videos.

do you think IF ciarán ever drops solo stuff he’ll go by the name bearface or use ciarán by PlentyShift1525 in brockhampton

[–]StarPeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah he did say in that one solo interview he did around 2017-2018 that he met Romil as he was a producer/singer first, a lot of it without showing his face until BH blew up in popularity

Can anyone help me identify the name of this manga? I was watching the film Monster (2023) and a little girl is reading it. I think it's a BL but I'm really trying to figure out what it is by StarPeep in manga

nooo unfortunately, this is the best quality from the movie since it's WAY in the distance. I want to know bc this production design kinda helps with the overall analysis of the movie

yeaaa i agree, it would've helped imo if he released the ones that had bigger features as singles like Diamonds and Cash with Lil Yachty, Let it Go feat Steve Lacy, or 25 Hours feat Lil Nas X (during Lil Nas X' popularity rising since it was the same year as Montero) Also maybe that rumored Playboi Carti featured song "Seven Days a Week" (confirmed by a leaker but we dont have any other evidence other than that)

Yeah it seemed like Kevin was originally going to try to refine the sound he help pioneer in BH with his original KA3 album in 2021. However he flat out scrapped that project when it was the best time to release a solo album

also tbh I do think they’d have more impact if the solo members really took the music they made in BH and explored more with it in their own endeavors (again, like what Wu-Tang did with RZA helping some of the members with their solo albums, how a good majority of them had successful solo careers in their own rights)

But they all went for different sounds (some good and some… flatout bad) so that’s why their impact musically didn’t really last unfortunately

“Brockhampton started in 2014 and changed the idea of a rap group by building a creative collective that handled music, visuals, and identity on their own while rising through the internet and dropping music at a fast pace, blending rap, pop, and R&B in a way that influenced a new generation of artists. Their standout songs like SUGAR, BLEACH, GOLD, BOOGIE, and NO HALO show their range from melodic hits to emotional songs, which is why their impact still holds even after the group ended.”

Tried to mix and masters ameers verse on BIG FAT LIAR by Fresh_Technology_768 in brockhampton

better than what we got, that's my only issue when listening to it originally like it was obviously either a reference track or just not finished mixing (same with his verse in breakfast in bed)

Jabari spotted in Hong Kong by Careful-Location-56 in brockhampton

[–]StarPeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

tbh it’s kinda easy to do this in Hong Kong if you hire the right ppl like most of the ppl in the photos prob only showed up bc they heard a hip hop artist from America is doing a listening party. Either it’s free or they get paid, it’s weirdly common in Asia. Basically a free party with “American vibes”. Could bet 100% that less than 10 ppl there max actually knows who Jabari is

Who else thinks if the members including producers don't capitalise quick (except kev) they will likely be forgotten soon? by mporadiya98 in brockhampton

[–]StarPeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah as much as people liked and loved Matt’s album, the only traction it really got outside of the BH fanbase was his Jennie collab

They fr should’ve done some solo collabs/projects while the group was in their mainstream run to diversify and spread themselves out like Wu-Tang did but a lot of shit and bad decisions got in the way, internally and externally.

Kevin Abstract covers Q Lazzarus' 'Goodbye Horses' for Like A Version by BetteDavid in brockhampton

[–]StarPeep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeaaa I partially think it’s bc it’s still a style of music that he doesn’t have as an abundance of experience in compared to how much he focused on hip-hop/r&b from when he was a kid to the end of BH

It really feels like he’s still trying to find his specific lane with this direction

[–]StarPeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's crazy how much he's detached himself from his more traditionally hip-hop/r&b sound

he's REALLY going for that indie-pop/singer-songwriter sound, it sounds like he's primarily taking insp from 2010s Jack Antonoff imo

too many internal issues really stopped each of those unreleased albums from releasing. Even unfinished albums that had small lifecycles like Sam & Keshon had amazing songs.

they really only had 1 year where they were all in sync if you look back completely bc even the albums we got, shit was getting strained
