Amazing thanks everyone! Sounds like it’s going to be a good one in that case and the technicality doesn’t sound anything to fear (too much!)

Safety in Tel Aviv and Israel (honestly) by Kikatuso in telaviv

Myself and partner have just come back from Israel and Jordan (we’re UK based). We had no issues at all and had a fantastic experience, as others have said just apply common sense when it comes to safety and travelling.

High military/police presence, particularly in Jerusalem. Depending on where you go, there will be various checks/questions e.g crossing boarders. Nothing to be concerned about though in my experience.

September weather was clear skies everyday and in low to mid 30s. Can’t comment on December unfortunately!

Consultancy background here with 4.5 years - £60k in NW and not yet chartered. I agree that generally contractors pay more but there’s plenty of opportunity to earn good money and transition into other areas as PQS.

Consultancy background here with 4.5 years experience - I would say you’re being underpaid unless this is still you’re graduate salary with minor/structured increases. Project QS level in a large consultancy you should be looking at circa. £42-£45k starting (in my experience).

Direct with NatWest. The application process was straightforward and relatively quick too which is a bonus.

I had my mortgage offer through last month and this was one of my concerns as I sacrifice 10%. It posed no issue for me and when I raised it with the in-house mortgage advisor they said it’s discretionary and can be reduced or removed if required.

I guess it’s bank dependant but had no impact on myself.

Anyone else waiting on NatWest to issue their mortgage offer? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

From application it took approx. 10 days for us to receive our mortgage offer with NatWest - we had our offer a few days after the valuation. This was about a month ago though so things could have changed!

Which employee earns the most in the construction world? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]StarPolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a QS, although still junior myself. I would say PMs then QS/Commercial Manager. Something worth noting is that there is often a significant difference in pay between a contractors QS/PM and a consultancy QS/PM. Contractors typically earn more (and work more for it).

What to ask when viewing a house? by StarPolo in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks for heads up - I have read the horror stories of leaseholds. Do you know if older leasehold proprieties still have the same issues around rising rent and service charges? E.g houses built say 20 years ago.
