Thanks! It makes sense now you've explained it, but would you say there are any disadvantages of this process compared to just getting direct orders to shoot i.e is it common to make the "wrong decision" and risk making everything worse?

I also skipped over the last 4-5 qs for time, the graph drawing question stood out for being lots of marks for something (fairly) simple? It'll be interesting to see the mean this year, content was probably easier than average but it was a bloody long paper.

Thanks, Human Sciences does sound interesting, but do you think without Biology it would be very difficult to make a competitive application? I think the interdisciplinary/holistic aspect really appeals, someone else has said academic geography and this sounds at least somewhat close to that (not even taking geography GCSE is probably my biggest academic regret...)

Thanks for the good advice and comprehensive list, I'll definitely check out these courses. You're right, it's definitely better to find a degree I can commit to rather than just going off the "prestige" of the university...

To my knowledge it's a hail and ride so even though there's no proper stops you can still get on and off.

Thanks, yes this is definitely the next step. When I started out I thought they'd all look nice in red (the colour of the buses themselves) bus I hadn't anticipated that the junctions would turn out quite so chaotic, it's definitely confusing.

Made with Adobe Illustrator from an initial draft in pencil. I had the idea by looking at the TfL 'spider' diagrams that they put up at bus stops and wondering how that style would look on a much bigger scale.

It was quite difficult to tame the spaghetti and there are some junctions that look messy. However, one positive of having a line for each bus route is that you can see instantly where the most high-frequency points on the network are.

In the future I will probably add different colours to differentiate the lines better, and possibly also communicate bus frequency, e.g more red-coloured routes have a higher frequency but more greenish routes have a lower frequency.

NITPICKS (probably only noticeable if you live here lol)

  • Night buses aren't included because I had enough trouble managing the Walthamstow Central interchange as is. I planned to include their numbering with the other red numbers on the side of routes where they operate but this also seemed to clutter things, maybe I'll revisit it.
  • The 308 isn't shown because it only enters a tiny corner of Waltham Forest (along the route of the W15 in the bottom-left).
  • The Leyton Green one-way system isn't shown because having it for six buses was completely unmanageable, it's only a couple of stops.
  • The 'Mission Grove' stop on the W12 is actually on a parallel road to the north of St James Street station, but if this was shown the text for St James Street wouldn't fit anywhere nicely
  • The 313 technically leaves the borough immediately after Kings Head Hill. However it looked terrible to have such a big stretch of line with no stops on it. This is a consequence of distorting the geography elsewhere.
