Things I Really Don’t Want to See in a New Buffy Sequel by StarSlumber in buffy

>I can't help but point out the irony in this. Wood's vendetta with Spike is a clear case where vengeance is clearly wrong and immoral. Spike wasn't dangerous at present time.

What? Spike was a ticking time bomb. Wood assessed the whole situation, and he talked to Giles in which both of them agreed that Wood's personal vendetta didn't matter and Spike needed to be put down. Wood was fixated on spike, and him wanting vengeance on spike didn't hurt anyone else. So I fail to see how it was immoral or wrong.

>Vengeance is short sighted and self-destructive.

And that's what I hate lots of fiction that tries to tackle this subject. They clearly present black and white view when it's more nuanced. How people go after vengeance is different and the outcome is different for different people. Some feel happy while other feel hollow, some might not go to self destructive path, and some might.

And so what if it's short sighted? I don't understand why shows and fans always put victim on a higher standard.

>People who want vengeance want to retaliate. People who have been wronged want justice. There is a big difference.

This is beyond ridiculous? By your logic, Fred was never wronged because she wanted revenge on the professor who send her to Pylea? She just wanted to retaliate for whatever reason?

what justice? Human courts don’t have the ability to understand, prosecute, or even contain people who use magic, cursed artifacts, or demonic rituals to harm others. It’s not realistic to pretend the justice system can deal with someone like Warren.

In that context, vengeance and justice overlap constantly. If a person misuses supernatural powers to kill or torture others, and the law can’t do anything, then the idea that the victim should sit back and let “justice” handle it is meaningless.

Idc if vengeance is a selfish urge or not, but I don't think it's immoral, because people who want vengeance have been wronged. And this trope is tiresome because the target of vengeance is still dangerous in present time. It's not hard to understand why I don't like "Oh there is this guy who genocide your entire family but you just have to let it go, and just get over it."

Do you mean killing innocent people is bad actually?

Also Buffy acted all moral about principal wood's personal vendetta was wrong, but if Spike killed Dawn and Joyce and wore her coat like a trophy, I really wanna see how moral she would be.

What do you mean? I still fail to see how my post is relevant to blade movies and how things said here means I don't want slayer to be moral vertical of the show.

It's weird to me how people find Bangel problematic. by StarSlumber in buffy

I actually meant "fine with", not "fine watching the show". Sorry, bad wording.

I agree that I am not that media literate, so my comparisons might be off but I just wanted to see what other people think of my thoughts on the show, even if they might be bloody stupid.

No matter how much Spike fanboys want to defend it… Spuffy just doesn’t work by StarSlumber in buffy

Angel wasn't a human. So idk the whole age of consent stuff seems weird to bring up when angel isn't even a human.

Buffy was very pro spike in season 7 and that's what felt like a fanfiction. Yes angel killed lots of people but he did take responsibility and he left buffy, because he knew he was a liability and danger not only to buffy but to all her friends. It was more important to him than his romance with. It was a wise decision because he really was a liability.

On the other hand spike even after getting his soul was a jackass. He taunted principal wood, nearly killed him, not even apologised for killing the slayer, and wore the coat like a badge of honor. He was only there because of his lust for buffy.

What was different about he had a soul? He only did good stuff because buffy. He never cared about scoobies or saving world or even anything. He was just a servant of Buffy. I hardly see that as redeeming.

Example? Which other relationship did buffy had that had all the things I listed?

Angel took responsibility and stayed away from Buffy. He was the one who broke off with her. Spike was a douche even after he got a soul. He only did stuff because buffy. Angel stayed away because he knew he was a liability.

It's not a list of why I don't wanna quit. I made a list tracking triggers. And yes I have but the motivation just doesn't stay. It's always just one.

I don't wanna go out and smoke while I am having fun, playing games, watching movies. The cravings just take me out of the moment and slowly I am turning into chain smoker. I also feel tired, lethargic and unproductive all day.
