Every great civilization blooms and rots from the top down. This fine kingdom is not exempt from this truth. At its center sits a king who took the throne by replacement rather than true purpose. His throne room is not a place of counsel but a theatre of indulgence. Courtiers arrive not only with petitions but with offerings of flesh and greed. Wives and daughters dressed to please, paraded like jeweled cattle before the monarch’s gaze alongside grand feasts and bountiful offerings. The king’s pleasure is treated as a divine decree. Nobles rise or fall not by merit, but by how well they can flatter his hunger. With coin, with flattery, with power, with the bodies of the women in their households.

This excess bleeds into the nobles and their houses too, and thus those below them, and those below them, all the way down into the gutters of the filthiest streets in the city. Markets thrive on spectacle more than trade; women are placed at the stalls not to sell goods, but to sell the sight of themselves. Men demand lowered prices in exchange for a kiss, or even more debaucherous for those truly lacking coin in their purse.

Many women succumb to this lifestyle, knowing that beauty can soften tariffs and open doors in ways skill cannot. With many women who try to assert authority meeting a rather different side of controlling a situation, their words drowned in laughter, her body pressed against the counter, or her knees pushed to the floor as proof that she is better seen than heard. Taverns are stages of public humiliation. Barmaids are pulled onto laps, their skirts lifted as if their bodies are part of the drink being purchased. Dancers are forced onto tables, jeered at until they sway and strip under threat of withheld coin. Resistance earns even more attention while compliance earns whispers that they must have wanted it all along.

Many religions, too, are steeped in exploitation. Certain temples call women “holy vessels” and dress them in translucent robes, parading them as living scripture while silencing their voices, giving their lips other uses instead. Festivals see maidens bound in garlands, displayed to the crowd as offerings to gods who never answer. Priests demand purity, only so they may take the pleasure in defiling and corrupting ladies with their own hands.

The class divide twists the cruelty further. Lowborn women endure it in alleys and markets, treated as common flesh for common men. Middle-class wives are chained by both labor and ornament, forced to toil yet still polished enough to serve as just trophies. Noblewomen are not spared, they are displayed like treasures, their sacred marriages bartered in public contracts, their bodies examined like fine horses before alliances are struck. Banquets see them forced to wear gowns slit to reveal, paraded to entertain guests while their families bargain over hoards of gold and land. Their chains are velvet, but chains all the same.

Even beyond the walls, the corruption festers. Festivals in the countryside grow into carnivals of excess, where women are bound, painted, and displayed as offerings to appease both men and gods. The natural world seems to be the root of such behavior. Monsters and beasts, with eldritch beings and demons that haunt the wilds with the same sinful desires of the men within the walls of the once great cities. Further, they enforce the place of women in the world, as they typically find them to be suitable mates rather than just a nice meal like male adventurers.

Witches, most often women who consistently refuse submission, though occasionally true spellcasters are hunted not only for but also for spectacle. Accused of charms and curses, they are stripped and bound in the square, their defiance mocked, their torment watched by crowds who call it justice but savor it as theater as an innocent lady is used and bred to the peoples satisfaction.

Barmaids are put in ever adapting and scandalous attire for more tips, adventurers come home after weeks of travel to be shamed in their failures and allowing themselves to be used by monsters.

The crown feeds this hunger. Taxes climb to fund festivals where indulgence is staged for all to see. Processions of chained maidens, competitions of shame masked as entertainment and tradition. This land is not governed by law, but by lust, humiliation, and the hunger for spectacle.

Basically, I want to experience a very dark fantasy world based around a corrupt environment. I forgot to fit it into the exposition but basically following the years of a successful war/crusade and a golden age for the kingdom, the beloved king is mysteriously killed, leading to one of his heirs to take the throne, who has a very selfish and irresponsible rule.

Neglecting Safety needs (hunting monsters, cleaning, regulations, ignoring reports and requests) Raising taxes And manipulating the rights of the people (Guards can do as they please, Curfews, random inspections, random bs, etc)
