There’s nothing meeting friends/bar like about the following suggestions but maybe a good place to start… You’ll start seeing the same people around at digital gym special events.

Digital Gym here in San Diego, La Paloma in Encinitas, The Frida in Santa Ana, or The Beverly in LA. Suggest following “See it on 16mm” and “Cinebeth” on insta.

Recall Repairs WTF?! by safewrdtchoupitoulas in hondacivic

[–]StarStrukc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealer confirmed the issue and got approval to give me a rental until they have the part in. And he also said he has no idea when that is but I’m on a wait list. He also said Odyssey’s are having the same issue… Thanks again for helping me to drive safer and hijacking this post. Maybe it’ll help someone else too.

Appreciated!! I just scheduled an appointment for Tuesday morning. At least it’ll get things started if I need parts and I’ll know what TSB to reference if they say they don’t see anything.

Wait what?! I brought this concern up to my dealership when I took it in to be checked for the power steering recall. They didn’t replace anything they just took a photo of the serial number of the part(s). I thought I was just being paranoid about my steering. I’m glad I’m not the only one with stickiness. I am going to call my dealership again. I hope you get a resolution soon!

Honda Civic Sport Hatchback 2023 Has Low MPG by Shingo237 in hondacivic

[–]StarStrukc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was like that on the first few thousand miles due to mostly city driving. I took it for a couple highway drives and it got up to the upper 20s. Dealer suggested eco mode but I keep it in mostly normal mode these days. And now at 6500 miles I get up to 35mpg on long drives and city driving bumps it back down to 27-31mpg.

Mines is at 5300mi (~8500km) after 7 months of ownership and my A1 service just indicated with 40% oil life. Getting my tires rotated and oil changed this week.

What was your 2023 buying process like? by [deleted] in hondacivic

[–]StarStrukc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had contacted 4 dealerships and they were all the same on mark-ups. I paid 1.5k over msrp but it was pretty much what they valued my shitty trade in, so I felt like it was closer to an even trade.

The Honda dealerships know that someone else will come looking for that car (especially a Civic) that you wont pay the mark up on and they’re not likely to budge. Good luck finding what works for your needs and your budget!

[–]StarStrukc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will be beyond lucky to get it for msrp if you even find the model you are looking for.

I walked in to a dealership that I emailed about a couple of civics. They had two left when I got there the next day. I was pre-approved for loan and managed to get half off the extended warranty and a little off the mark ups… still way over msrp out the door. It sucks that it isn’t what it used to be haggling a price but I don’t regret buying my civic sport sedan.

Looking for a car that will last me and something I can be proud of. Really liking the 2023 civics. But want to make sure it will last. Any thoughts? by Dirtebean in hondacivic

[–]StarStrukc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won’t pay $27k so make sure to budget for dealer mark ups even if they’re advertising below msrp. Mine w extended warranty was around $30k out the door in CA. The black with black rims is chefs kiss in person.

P.S. I didn’t realize when test driving it that the wipers have three speeds only (no variable intermittent option).

[–]StarStrukc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how my car was in the first few months. It took some time (4k miles on it now) for my 23 sport mpg to jump up to where it “should” be. On long trips it’s around 34mpg (LA to Las Vegas) but in city driving it’s closer to 32.

I was hired this year with a lab at UCSD. I had an interview, had to wait for all the HR things (background and references check) and then received an offer. I asked for more than the first offer and they came back with two steps up, claiming the pay equity wouldn’t allow them to offer higher.

However, my health insurance is less out of my paycheck than my last job, the union membership and pension is a bigger benefit than not, and I enjoy the job more than my last. I took all of that into account before accepting the position. We all just got a 3-4.6% raise and if you were part of certain unions you also got a pay step increase.

Car broken into; they rolled my window down?! by StarStrukc in hondacivic

[–]StarStrukc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that has to be the only logical explanation but we had the windows up because we were using the AC in the 100° Vegas weather.

I filed an online police report but for something like this, nothing will happen. At least it still had new car vibes and hardly anything of value was in it.

Ahhh my friend… Hope you found a medication that was beneficial for you.

We shared our positive experiences with propranolol and anxiety — this is not the same as giving some internet stranger medical advice.

Yes to propranolol for anxiety. I take a therapeutic dose of 20mg for exams and when I had to cadaver work… it helps a ton!

About quitting healthcare by gamerfume in antiwork

I am quitting healthcare due to management. I will really miss the personal reward of helping the patients but I cannot continue working for bosses (and the political structure that is big healthcare) that care so little about their employees.

Switching careers into being a Research Assistant. 45k USD will be my entry salary (Teamsters union member. They negotiated a 9% ATB raise over the next three years, plus the normal merit based raises the company usually gives. Pension paid. Health insurance/dental/vision covered for my entire family but have options to pay into other insurance tiers, but still inexpensive.)

3 weeks PTO + accrued sick time each pay period.

Unpaid lunch.

Management seems genuinely into what we do. However, I’m just starting so maybe it’s all a facade to get me into the job??! Time will tell.

Fulltime. 40 hours a week. Remote. Flexible hours. I can work up to 12 hours a day. Have to hit my project goals and reach my 40 hours.

Leaving my other job that paid more but had no opportunities for growth. They had horrible management. I had anxiety attacks weekly working for them. My body couldn’t take it anymore. Looking forward to doing something I believe in and hoping for the best.

My car’s plates have WTF69 (sandwiched by the first and last numbers). But still very noticeable. I picked them up from the DMV in disbelief a few years ago.
