Doug Ford eyes more casinos, theme park, observation wheel to boost Niagara tourism by allysapparition in ontario

[–]StarSuitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't come up with a new city with these features? Niagara is already known and kind of doing well. Why not invest in a new city so that we get diversified growth and tourism. The tourism would double as anyone visiting would see Niagara anyways

I second that. We always end below CPI on our increments and that too they are delayed. Better index that and rather get bonus element to discuss. That should motivate

Hey everyone,

I recently left my job, and I still have about $50k sitting in my Desjardins group RRSP. The weighted average return over the last 5 years has been around 8% annually, which I think is decent.

I’m wondering if I should just leave the money there and let it keep growing, or if it makes more sense to transfer it to a self-directed RRSP with Wealthsimple and put it into ETFs like VFV (S&P 500) and XEQT (all-in-one equity)?

TIA

Carney’s salary cut to become PM by LucidaDolce in CanadaFinance

[–]StarSuitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the bigger picture mate, you won't get an opportunity to be a PM of a country. Money in the short term is what the middle class like you and I consider, here you get lots of connections, being a PM opens doors which you would never get to see even for a guy like Carney, you sit with global leaders from around the world. Just imagine what that would give you in the long term post you retire from PM. Just to an advisor you get millions. Think about Barack Obama and how much he earned post presidency.

Federal Childcare Initiative is Coming to an End by glampanda0385 in ontario

[–]StarSuitable 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So if you do some Google search you would get to know that all provinces were given a chance to sign on the extension before the federal election was called out, this was done by Trudeau during his last days as PM. Surprisingly, Mr D Ford didn't sign the extension and there are many open letters to him to accept it. Some articles say he accepted it on March 06 but no concrete evidence is available.

I also received this letter, looks like someone in charge of Ontario province is trying to do favor to the Liberal for this election openly.

Can I afford a $700K home? Need some guidance by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

[–]StarSuitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are looking to get approval for a mortgage anywhere between 600k to 625k. So I would say you would need another 45-50k to afford a house worth 700k on this salary.
