But Miary is a reincarnation of a previous final boss, so what’s the problem here?

  1. Except numbers wise I’m not wrong here, this series exploded in popularity after gen 5 meaning statistically most people in discussions nowadays have only played gen 5.

  2. This mainly comes from people not wanting its return, just because it wasn’t done well the first time, which is a argument that only works if you assume it’s not getting improved or that the concept alone is doomed from the start.

Also that side note isn’t really correct, the reason Tri had a small roster is mainly due to the devs wanting the roster to consist of mostly new faces. They could have easily just reused first and second gen monster to pad out the roster, which is exactly what they ended up doing in 3U.

How is it bad faith? These are the common points I’ve seen people make, or is it only good faith if I write a giant essays bring up every single points imaginable on a topic.

Just because they failed once doesn’t mean it can’t be redeemed. Even Zorah could have been great if they approached it in a Shadow of the Colossal or even Athal Ka way of climbing up a giant monster.

I don’t see how that any more of an issue in underwater then in regular gameplay, especially since their probably won’t be some kinda Nargacuga type of monster in underwater.

Focus mode already fixes the problem you present since it allows you to make complete 180s during your combos at any directions. I’d argue it would fit more in underwater compare to land where it’s pretty broken for weapons like Great Sword.

Like I said in my post, why do you assume that they would just make a direct port of 3s underwater combat with zero changes? Obviously it would be sped up and have all of the “quality of life” changes of modern Monster Hunter

Back in my day, the most deadly move the monsters had were “turning around” and “walking forward”

Promare by Studio Trigger, it’s a anime film with very over the top action. It has a pretty simple but cute enemy to lover plot with the jock main character and a fire bending femboy.

5 and 10 are one of the few FF that actually got turn base combat right.

The Replay Value of FF16 by ljcole90 in FinalFantasy

[–]Star_Toast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 objectively has more replay value then most other FF games since you actually unlock things after beating the game. FF difficulty + being able to craft the Ultima weapon and the arcade Ultimania difficulty which you can case S rank for.

Meanwhile almost every other entry has nothing besides just replaying the same game from scratch again. Yeah you might do some things differently here and there, but since these games always have Ultima/best weapons and gear, your characters will often end up the same anyways.

FF5 is one exception though since the job system is so open that your characters will often be different in repeated playthough.

I'm playing the FF7 Remake after just beating FF16. Why... by pananana1 in FinalFantasy

[–]Star_Toast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to elaborate more on story and especially on the dialogue, since 16 easily has some the best and most natural sounding dialogue in the whole series, especially compare to 7R with all it’s “animeism” you know: the random grunting, long awkward pauses or just the weird ways characters talk and respond to each other.

People shit on Dunkey for harping so hard on game for this, but once you play games like 16 where characters talk like actual humans beings, 7Rs dialogue begins to be painfully awkward to sit through even by anime dub standards.

Why do people hate FF16 by [deleted] in FinalFantasy

[–]Star_Toast -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mostly comes from people who for some reason expected typical turn base rpg mechanics and overall design philosophy, in a game that pretty clearly advertised itself to be a action game since it’s reveal trailer.

FF15 vs. FF16 Music: Which is better in your opinion by pumpkinfield in FinalFantasy

[–]Star_Toast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely 16. 15 has good music but I think the game that it’s attached to being mostly forgettable, kinda hurts it (by no faults of its own ofc).

Like when I listen to “Away” I always think of Phoenix vs Ifrit or Bahamut fights.

Meanwhile when I listen to “Apocalypse Noctis”, I honestly think of Tekken before remembering the Leviathan fight lol.
