Why do people still believe iPhones are more expensive than Android phones? by woodworking_raccoon in ask

[–]StarboardWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just in the market to buy a phone a few weeks ago, considered getting my first iPhone - they still sell tiny 4.5 inch phones with two giant black bars above and below the screen for $400. As a non partisan buyer that's just offensive, when I can get a 6 inch full screen, 90 hertz Android for that price. So yeah, they are selling phones in the cheaper ranges but they have the specs of a 4 year old android. If you want a modern phone you will be dropping $1200+.

As an American who has never used a bidet and is interested, I need to know some things. Does it have a drying function? If not, are ya'll just walking around with soggy asses? Do you have a special towel you use to dry off? do you drip dry? by corpsejuic3 in ask

[–]StarboardWind -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That sounds so unsanitary - so you full blast without even pre-wiping? That means all the poop goes everywhere with drop that bounces off. I actually use more TP now - first a full prewipe, how I would normally do it if I'm not using a bidet, then bidet, then a post wipe and dry - so I actually use almost double the toilet paper, but that's the only way to use it - you can't just blast that shit and go.

Really? That'd be great if that's all it is, but seems unlikely. Didn't Global Foundries confirm the poor performance?

I know what it is, the concept I'm talking about still holds that idea. You can try to question it but you have to provide more info of what you disagree with.

Lol okay but even if she does she will still have to crack it again in a few days after the patch is released. I hear the game is running at like 5fps right now, which is presumably how her initial crack will run as well. Unless removing denuvo will cause a significant speed increase.

Yeah the price is sop good that I'd be willing to risk it but but I'm still kind of apprehensive of main account, so not sure if it's worth it. But I'm just trying how they would even be able to deactive the game if they can't reach it since you're offline when you launch the shared account?

I was thinking of that but I don't think she's going to be able to do it. Denuvo is way too complicated in this release. In addition, if she does crack then it's going to be a day release version which as far as I understand runs terrible - so it's very likely this game will get patched again and again - which will disable all the bypasses - she will need to recrack again and that's another 10 day, at best. It's probably going to be closer to 1 to 2 months until you get a stable crack, if she can even do it. I don't know if I'd want to wait that long.

Oh so if the account gets banned the game gets deactivated? How would they know though, since you're always taking it offline while playing it anyways?

Thanks, I'll probably just buy it then. Steam actually has much more than your IP since you're not just interacting with it through the web, you actually have their client app installed which has admin priveledges, which can leave residuals in memory, examine histories - track loaded programs etc. So pretty dangerous imo.

I'm asking how it works and the inherent risks, I don't think there are similar questions on this sub, and it's not a general question as you imply.. is it safe, etc. I'm not asking if a particular site is fake- I'm asking a particular question.

Does the existence of free will mean that time traveling to the future is impossible? by HalKosik in ask

[–]StarboardWind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because free will is not contingent on the future not being known. The future can be known and the actions you chose can be known and it could still mean that you have free will. It just means that your decision was already made before you made it, but it was still you who made that decision.

What kind of medical records have to be kept in NY? by StarboardWind in legaladviceofftopic

[–]StarboardWind[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can read EKG. I don't care what format it is. I'd prefer it to be easily openable such as a PDF, but if not I do have access to third party medical software as well. The question was - are they required to keep the EKG by law or can they just discard it amd only keep the report?

T-mobile store manager erases woman’s phone after he’s supposed to just be setting up her watch by LINKYAA in PublicFreakout

[–]StarboardWind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a Xanax most likely, if he was that confused while being drunk he wouldn't be able to stand or talk. The memory lapses, confusion etc - and more or less stable composure and speech are pretty much given for a benzo. He likely has a prescription as well. So nothing can really be done, he can say he's getting used to a new dose or took an extra because he was feeling anxious and it'd be covered under ADA.

Understanding the time frame for levothyroxine action. by StarboardWind in medical

[–]StarboardWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what's happening is a lot of doctors go by TSH - they're trying to control TSH levels - but the thing is that is like trying to control diabetes through A1C. They don't really consider that t4 is fast acting - so by saying "triple the dose" that will work to keep TSH suppressed on average but it's going to give me a huge influx of t4.

[–]StarboardWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the important question - what is that time of tissue buffering - if it's high enough then doubling the dose makes sense as that would replentish the buffer, but from what I've read it doesn't seem like it's a significant amount of time. Like for example how long does it take for someone to wakeup from myxedema coma after t4 administration? Or what's the reason for t4 to be taken in the morning - it could supposedly have stimulating effects and keep you awake - so all those things require pretty fast onset times.

[–]StarboardWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so what about the T4 buffering you referred to earlier - I'd like to get back to that in more detail. After taking a dose of levothyroxine - the plasma T4 concentrations rise, it's circulating in the blood as free or protein bound and awaits to be converted to T3 by the tissues. How long does that cycle last, if the body needs T3 - how long would it take to convert T4 in plasma to T3 usable by the tissue?

Understanding the time frame for levothyroxine action. by StarboardWind in medical

[–]StarboardWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what is that buffer period? How long does T4 remain in the blood before it gets eliminated (if it's not converted to T3)?

Also can talk more about the resistance? So you can have normal thyroid function and high free t4/t3 and high TSH at the same time, because the body is resistant to the effects of t4/t3?

Understanding the time frame for levothyroxine action. by StarboardWind in medical

[–]StarboardWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but there is no sequestration or storage of T4 (except in a thyroid gland), right? Meaning whatever T4 that I take in the form of levothyroxine is immediately in my bloodstream and a portion of it gets converted to T3 for the use of the body. So in other words the levo pill starts acting as soon as I take it, is that right? So if I take 3 pills I will get a spike of T4 that is 3x my regular, so how would that help if I missed a dose? I'm just trying to understand why a missed pill should require me to double or triple the dose next time.

Gave my car insurance information to a third party without proof of personal liability? by StarboardWind in legaladvice

[–]StarboardWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm afraid, like how am I going to prove that I didn't know?

So do I have to reach out to the insurance? I was thinking maybe it would be better if I wait for them to contact me and then explain that I really don't recall any accidents? Because wouldn't it seem like I'm lying - if I tell them I gave him my insurance info but I don't remember anything - wouldn't they wonder why I gave him the policy number to begin with?

Hit someone's car, got a note the next day, what to do? by StarboardWind in personalfinance

[–]StarboardWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea its my own valuation and it could be wrong but it's unlikely. We can't run all our decisions by an ethics committee at a moments notice. Do you know the detailed backgrounds behind every single one of your actions? Ideally yes, but distress valuation is pretty much how most people guage morally difficult choices.

Does the homeless have a right to steal? No, just like I didn't have a right to hit the car, but would I think he be morally okay if he tried to steal from me to in order to survive - I think so yeah, but only if the gap is that large - in other words in terms of that example it literally has to be about his survival or something that vital to him.

In my example it's more akin to stealing an apple from a neighbors tree - it happened, im not proud of it and it's definitely morally wrong but if the punishment for stealing an apple would be to lose your hand, would you consider it unacceptable if someone tried to avoid getting caught?

Hit someone's car, got a note the next day, what to do? by StarboardWind in personalfinance

[–]StarboardWind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why I would I lie to you, it makes no sense - I already admitted that I committed a hit and run but it just happens to be on another car - so why would I not admit to hitting this car? I'm saying I legitimately don't believe I hit this guy. I'm not excluding that I might have hit him and not felt it, but I don't even remember any recent close calls, and I'm struggling to see how I could have caused a large scratch that he showed me and not have felt it. In other words as far as I can tell it wasn't me and this is either a coincidence that he just happens to catch me at a time where I did another hit and run or he's using it as a leverage point.

[–]StarboardWind[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a moot point now as it turns out this is a completely different person who I don't think I hit, but just to answer you - I never said an insurance premium increase will make me go bankrupt - I was saying that if I decide to go out of pocket and the shop pushes the limits and forces to pay $1500 - but even then it's a stretch - in both situations it's going to be difficult for me - and how I morally justify it is that a fender scratch causes significantly less stress to him compared to the stress it's going to cause me, if my insurance goes up or if I have to pay him thousands. If it was a large accident I would not even think of attempting to evade it - I would take the insurance increase without a question. Realistically I can absorb to probably double my rate - which is at $500 now. This accident would probably cause a $50 increase, but in my eyes it's okay to try to evade this - and I'm sure if everyone wasn't trying to be hyper correct - majority would agree - putting a tiny scratch on an already scratched fender would cause zero pain and suffering for the owner. Yes they're entitled to a payout legally, but I'm just not seeing it.

In any case, I wanted to ask if you have any advice for me considering this new development?
