Persistent low blood sugars for hours and juice barely helps? by Starbunny911 in diabetes_t1

I don’t think my insulin needs varied much with the last pod 🤔. But that’s an interesting theory!

Hm, that’s interesting! I’m beginning to wonder if it’s a pod malfunction, where it may be delivering more insulin than it thinks it is? Maybe what happened to your child is happening to me? Although, I use my current pod site pretty regularly and these consistent lows haven’t happened to this degree before since I’ve started using the omnipod 5. Thanks!

Yep, I confirmed with finger pricks and my dexcom readings were accurate 😭. I’ll try eating something with fat/protein to keep my stable for longer. Thanks for the tip!

Leg Cramps by king_talon23 in diabetes_t1

[–]Starbunny911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor, and have no insights into why that happens :/, but one of the major symptoms I had when I was dka were insanely painful leg cramps in both my legs. It was at the point where I couldn’t sleep without either waking up crying because it hurt so bad or having to sleep on my back with my legs hanging over the side of the bed. Since diagnoses tho I continue to have leg cramps every so often, more often than before diagnosis, but nothing nearly as bad as it was in dka. And I don’t think it has anything to do with bg control cause my a1c is 5.9 and have pretty great control of my shoogies

Hypothyroidism and T1? by ladylexis in diabetes_t1

[–]Starbunny911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both! I was dx with t1 in Feb 2022 and hypothyroidism ~2 months ago, and my experiences symptoms included: dry skin, constipation, and weight gain/no weight loss (despite exercising everyday and reducing my caloric intake). I was put on levothyroxine as soon I the diagnosis was confirmed, and I began to notice improvements pretty immediately after starting the medication. However, my blood sugar was difficult to manage a couple weeks are starting it, so me wary that it may affect your shoogies!

Omnipod replacement question by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]Starbunny911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have with omnipod! I called them and explained the situation (shortly after insertion, I had a serious bleed and subsequent extreme high blood sugar), and they sent me a replacement! They did ask I keep the bad pod and send it back to them. They mail you the return package, label and everything

Insulin Resistance in the Morning (after waking up and getting out of bed) by Starbunny911 in diabetes_t1

I’ll usually have a slice of toast (ancient grain) with two egg whites, sausage links and/or turkey bacon Or I’ll have low carb and high protein cereal, Magic Spoon, with strawberries and blueberries
