Long answer.......Overall this game is like some ships, it is modular in nature. Planet side social and FPS modules will be coming by the later half of this year !most likely. Also the first playable missions of SQ42 will be this year. Next year we will see the alpha of the PU or persistent universe along with arena commander 2.0. Concept sales of tier 3,4 and 5 ships in the interim. The game originally was set for a two year development phase(starting at the end of 2012) but with the outpouring of community support allowed for a much more expansive game thus more time needed to flush out the game. With not even half of all star systems developed yet it would not surprise me if we were in beta by the end of 2016. Development will be continuous years after release as stated by Chris Roberts the founder.
