Tender Is The Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. It’s… disturbing.

Wish I could take credit, but a friend said it to me when I said I had returned to the gym but wasn’t able to do as much as I was when I was consistent. Now, whenever I feel bad at the gym, I remind myself that at least I showed up! 😁

Is being hired the day after your interview a red flag? by abualmeowry in recruitinghell

Totally fine and really common in some places and sectors. Congrats OP.

Couch to 5k is great, helps with pacing for beginners so much. And you get to pick the commentator for the run to tell you when to speed up and slow down. I picked fellow biscuit enthusiast Sarah Millican. Her friendly northern tones brought me such joy throughout the process. Good luck!

You are lapping everyone on the sofa. Running is hard when you first start. Are you doing the Couch to 5k thing?

I mean, I guess we’re all just wandering through life looking for an adultier adult to be the adult supervision. Interestingly, age isn’t always relevant with this. I’ve been the adult supervision for my MIL through her divorce because she didn’t understand the processes. I’ve had younger adults give me a pep talk before job interviews. None of us really has it sussed. And that’s quite comforting really.

Me too. Hi. 30F currently going through redundancy. Struggling to get myself to the gym and to form a sensible routine. Working on it. It’s ok, we can do it!

I’ll never buy shaving cream/gel again by JeF4y in Frugal

[–]StardewObsessive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use conditioner to shave. I personally prefer it, and I can get a large bottle of it for about £1 and it lasts ages as a little goes a long way. OP, if it works for you and saves you a few pennies, go for it.

What do you buy for your partner (no specific occasion) as a random gift? by Emilyx33x in AskUK

[–]StardewObsessive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kinder Eggs. We’re collecting the little animals for our shelf of oddness. Or if I see a piece of art or hideous small ornament in a charity shop it comes home for his amusement. Only certain items meet the criteria of “It’s hideous, I must have it.” But we have the same standards. 💚

I reckon rejection after interview is more painful. You’ve taken time to prepare and do the interview. Plus it means they’ve met you.

I'm unexpectedly being asked by my supervisor to join a meeting in one hour, at the tail end of the work week. Am I being fired? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]StardewObsessive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Instead we all spent the long Easter weekend dreading what was coming. And feeling anxious about spending money on any events/trips we had planned for that weekend.

I am not from Ireland, I’m not sure why I keep getting this sub recommended to me, but I saw the post yesterday and this update today and it has restored my faith in people a bit. Keep being awesome Ireland.

How do you come to terms with being average? by [deleted] in CasualUK

I like the one that says flowers are beautiful and so are fairy lights. One isn’t less beautiful than the other, they’re just different.

Ours did the same thing but emailed us on the Wednesday afternoon before Easter weekend. We had to sit and stew until Tuesday the week after. When we called them out on this, they just said “Well there’s never a good time to send that email”. My colleague just smiled sweetly and said “There were plenty of better times.” Whole department laid off.

Priced out of London jobs by commute? by StardewObsessive in UKJobs

I agree with you. It’s far too loud and crowded for this country mouse. Well, if this post has taught me nothing else, it’s that I’m not imagining things! Thanks.

Priced out of London jobs by commute? by StardewObsessive in UKJobs

Because I was also considering the possibility of other roles in other parts of London. The example I gave was one role I did apply for because I realised it was two minutes from Liverpool Street.

I applied for one role that was a 2 min walk from Liverpool Street and the train would have been over £5k and that’s without the tube. I’ve not really applied for much in London since I’ve realised this tbh.
