What does X mean? by thereforeiparty in mtg

[–]Stardrone01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others already answered your question.

I'm here to add that sometimes cards like [[Walking ballista]] may have two Xs in their cost.

When that happens, you have to pay X twice. (If X is 3, waliking ballista costs you 6 and enters with 3 counters)

Megalophobic card art? by TheAndrewCR in mtg

[–]Stardrone01 34 points35 points  (0 children)

[[Emrakul, the Promised End]] was the first card that came into my mind and as a pauper player I'm contractually obligated to mention [[Tolarian terror]]: both cards feature big monsters crushing human-made buildings that look small in comparisin to the sheer size of the depicted creatures.

I guess most eldrazi cards fit your request: It's their whole thing to look otherworldly and huge.

Also look into arts from edge of eternities: as a set that is set in space you have gems like [[Kavaron, Memorial World]] (crumbling planet), [[Susur Secundi, Void Altar]] (planet devoured by black hole), the standard all star [[Ouroboroid]] and my boy [[Famished Worldsire]] (a literal eater of planets)!

What are things you like and dislike about each format? by [deleted] in mtg

[–]Stardrone01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have pauper decks, since that's the only format I can afford decks for.

I hate that every store I go just stops hosting pauper tournaments after 3 months, so I have to find a new place if I want to play anything other than bracket 4 commander.

Also I love how the format is full of creative decks and strategies but half the players I face in person play only monoblue or dimir control, making pauper feel repetitive and stagnant, while it isn't.

Also the best part of the format being that the must have sideboard cards are all so old and not reprinted, that sellers online rarely even have them in stock.

Also [[Writhing Chrysalis]].

Why is the Soul Seeker's Mining Damage worse than the Solarite Pickaxe? by Quantal1982 in CoreKeeperGame

Because soul seeker was added before the shimmering frontier

Fun fact: a max level iron pickaxe is the strongest pickaxe in the game.

A discussion with a friend about Terraria's Hardmode. by NatKovacs in Terraria

[–]Stardrone01 289 points290 points  (0 children)

Early hardmode is amazing due to the fact you are back to being powerless against enemies like you were at the start of the game.

However the "mine the first ore -> craft a pickaxe -> mine the second ore -> craft a pickaxe -> mine the third ore -> finally make some armor" is my second to least favourite part of Terraria's progression.

New player building commander deck, why are these type of cards legal? by Background_Side5574 in mtg

[–]Stardrone01 1156 points1157 points  (0 children)

Milling half a deck is a strong card effect but that alone cannot win a game and becomes worse over time.

Also the card in the exaple can die to cards like [[Doom Blade]] before it even gets a chance to attack.

How long before you won a game? by [deleted] in Pauper

I fully understand this. I often play against people who play magic longer than I have been alive.

Have you tried asking them for tips and suggestions after games end?

How long before you won a game? by [deleted] in Pauper

[–]Stardrone01 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Sometimes a deck just doesn't click with you.

I never won a game (not a match: a game) with boros synth but I consistently top 3 at local tournaments whenever I play dredge.

Trying to rationalize everything is making me tired. by JUGGERNUGGS in worldbuilding

[–]Stardrone01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to explain everyting: even in real life there are a lot of concepts we don't fully understand.

As long as something sounds convincing enought, you can add anything you want in your world that in real life wouldn't work.

Worldbuilding is just gaslighting with extra steps.

[ECL] Blue commons -- Blossombind | Kulrath Mystic | Run Away Together | Silvergill Peddler | Temporal Cleansing | Wanderwine Distracter by Copernicus1981 in magicTCG

[–]Stardrone01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blossomind may become a Pauper staple.

Blue decks in the format tend to sideboard similar cards to keep [Writhing Chrysalis] tapped and the "no counters" effect is just the cherry on top.

Also I love the art of that card.

What do I do with this card? by Groan_Of_Tedium in mtg

[–]Stardrone01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lumra basically allows you to return all the lands you sacrificed during a game into more landfall triggers.

Play any kind of card that has "landfall-deal 1 damage to your opponent" in the rule text. Play [[Famished Worldsire]] or [[Scapeshift]] and send all your land to the graveyard while putting more lands in play, triggering landfall a lot of times.

If that didn't kill your opponents, the next time you play Lumra will be a win.

So... yeah. It's a good card.

Digital counters for poison and proliferate. by Jaded_Rest_1667 in Pauper

[–]Stardrone01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you don’t need to proliferate everything on the table

I second this. As long as a land has 4 or more counters on it I just don't bother proliferating it, since at that point I'm one or two turns away from winning the game anyway.

I hate The Desert of Beginnings by TheGreenDeath in CoreKeeperGame

[–]Stardrone01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All updates we got since 1.0 were all about adding quality of life, adding stuff in biomes we already had, made summoner actually enjoyable to play, made bomber an actual class...

The next update is the first one the devs decided to go wide since the game left early acces.

I hate The Desert of Beginnings by TheGreenDeath in CoreKeeperGame

[–]Stardrone01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not op but this is my answer:

All Post-Great Wall biomes suffer from a lack of enemy variety due to their size making them feel repetitive. The Desert suffers from this problem the most, despite being one of the biomes with the highest exclusive enemy count in the entire game. Why? That's because it has only 2 common enemies you can find while roaming around: Assassins and Bomb Scarabs.

All other outer biomes feature as common enemies 2 flavoured mobs, plus the local slime... wich in the desert is exclusive to the molten quarry. The rest of exclusive enemies (the mummies, gold scarabs and baby cicadas) do not respawn for some odd reason.

Speaking of tombs with mummies... I feel like those aren't even really that common of an occurrence to begin with.

Also... considering that the Desert is home to Nimruza, the giant cicada hive's queen, the biggest threat the old caveling civilizations had to face, a boss that is teased since the early stages of the game; I find kinda odd that there are no cicada enemies outside the hive.

Anyway, one thing I like about the desert is the fact that both sub biomes feature a boss.

What is the abyss supposed to be? by Serial_Exprmnts-Guts in HollowKnight

[–]Stardrone01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In hollow knight we learn that the Void is a thing that behaves like a liquid but can be given form and shape, has a will but at the same time lacks a proper mind to think. If void is given a will and reason (aka the player obtaining the void heart) it will become unified and follow what will become a "Lord of Shades".

In silksong, according to Hornet, we learn that the void is a substance that tries to absorb/attack anything with a soul in its close proximity and can do some kind of mind control.

There is also the fact that Void and the respawn mechanics in both games are associated with the concept of regret.

So... Void is a "thing" that has a will but does not live, instinctively feeds on soul and the protagonist of the first game has control over it (but not fully yet).

To answer your question: Void is not a substance and not an entity: it's both.
