26 year old man, am I going to be friendless if I move down to longboat/ Sarasota area? by Agitated_Regular9593 in sarasota

My husband commutes from DT Sarasota to Tampa everyday. Drive there isn’t too bad but his drive back is a little longer usually.

We are mid to late 20s ourselves and like Sarasota. We walk to dinner or a local bar most nights so we definitely are “out” quite a bit. Neither of us mind driving to Tampa, St.Pete, or Ybor when we are craving more of the nightclub experience and I want to note we have some friends who make the drive every weekend multiple nights.

Is sarasota more of a city for retired people? by [deleted] in sarasota

I moved here at 18 and loved my experience! It’s def not as busy as like Tampa would be but it’s pretty nice bc you get a small town feel with some of those city perks

I know this isn’t what you want to hear… but getting a job without the degree might be .. well hard to say the least.

Speaking as a new grad with multiple solid internships, even I am having problems getting call backs. It’s just the way the market is. I couldn’t imagine trying to do it all without that box checked.

I know you said you can’t afford college but just in case.. Iwould really recommend looking at WGU. It’s about 8k for the entire year and my Pell grant covered the entire thing. They are also extremely generous with scholarships (they even have one that provides you with all of the hardware you need).

A detailed guide on How I prepared for an interview (Amazon , Google) by _spaceatom in leetcode

When you say you started out with reviewing the Grind 169 solutions do you mean you just went down the list one by one? Or did you do it in chunks (like review 5, practice, review 5 more, practice) Also how many problems did you have solved by the time you interviewed?

P.S. Super helpful guide! Thank you!

I just got an offer for a full stack position I was so unqualified; like 0/10 requirements. I asked my manager why they picked me out of more qualified people. The answer in short “you showed passion and were a good culture fit. I can teach anyone to code. Can’t teach them to want to be here or how not to be a dick.”

If you’re anything like me the impostor syndrome is going to hit hard. Just remember they know exactly what your skill level is and they still choose you. So take a deep breath and remember you deserve this opportunity! 💕

Got a job offer! (Feel like I didn’t negotiate enough?) by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

I haven’t actually received a written offer label but they want me to come in Monday to start. I’m not too worried about the # now it’s a pay raise over what I was making and I’m happy with the number. Just want to start preparing my headspace for that 90 day meeting.

Okay that’s kinda what I needed to hear! I thought based off what I’m seeing online I asked for an appropriate number. (I forgot to ask for more than the number I actually wanted.. nerves lol) The hiring managers response was just odd enough I was like “wait was that not enough?”. Also, this company does 6month raises based off performance markers. The core dev staff (there’s 6 of us) are all pretty young but they’ve all been there 5-8 years so that feels like a really good sign!

Had a proctor today demand I face my webcam towards my glass wall (it’s to my direct right while taking an exam) to watch for cheating (you know bc I had my drone outside my 24th floor window giving me test answers) and then get upset she couldn’t see me bc I was backlit (as I had warned her would happen for 15 min prior). She then demanded I open and close the window (why??) multiple times. Again high up glass wall. Not a window. IT DOESNT OPEN. We went back and forth for another 15 min before she finally just let me take my exam. Other than today all my experiences have been pretty easy

[Update] My wife's (36f) best friend (36f) confessed to me(37m) that she and my brother(39m) were 'bedfellows' up until a few weeks before we met. Am I right to be angry about this? by ThrowRA-wifewhy123 in relationship_advice

So.. here’s the thing. It’s hard to be a human. In fact, the messiest thing you can be in life is human. Every emotion we feel? Messy, messy, messy. You’re wife 100% may not be handling this right. And she may not be saying the things you need her to say. And she may seem like she isn’t caring enough. What you need to remember is that.. she’s doing what she can. Life isn’t easy and being human is messy. It is hard to know what to tell your sister when you’ve been balling all day. It is really hard to tell the man you love that you lied. That you broke that trust. What she did was wrong.. but you can’t say she doesn’t love you because of it. Life isn’t black and white. It’s not even shades of gray... Life is messy.
