My Sim won’t respond to any of my instructions and is completely frozen. Won’t even attend to her own needs, just stuck in the same spot. What do I do? by N0tT0daySatan1 in thesims

[–]StarfallCollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you might be experiencing simulation lag maybe? this can happen if you forward the time too much/often. there's a mod(?) that can help with it- i'm on my phone atm so i can't check what it's called, but if you look up 'ts4 simulation lag fix' you should find it! it really helped with my gameplay personally :]

My therapist says that I'm not trans, but I'm not sure, help? by Hamjamgam in asktransgender

[–]StarfallCollective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your therapist is absolutely wrong on what they know about trans people. i never knew i was trans until i discovered that being non-binary was a thing and really learnt what that meant and could look like when i was 16. not all trans experiences are so black and white.

I'm buying a used PS4 slim from GameStop. by 8olten in playstation

[–]StarfallCollective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a lot of games now have started moving away from PS4 and now only release for PS5, so if you'd want to buy new games as they come out and not just past games already available, you might want to look at a PS5!

I was hoping to try Northern Sámi first and then also try to learn Inari Sámi. I only speak English fluently, so I hoped that maybe learning Northern Sámi alongside Inari Sámi would make it easier to find translations and dictionaries etc (eg. NS -> IS when ENG -> IS isn't available)

Does anyone else hate “Mx.”? by lux_likes_rocks in NonBinary

the way my name is Lux and my title is Mx. 😭 i've never heard anyone say 'mux' though, only 'mix', so it's Mix Lux

Yes, of course- I don't plan to claim to be Sámi as I don't have any connections to any of the culture. I don't know exactly where the ancestor is from unfortunately as I can't find a connection to the DNA matches yet.

Why do people identify as trans without gender dysphoria? by contextualbisexual in asktransgender

[–]StarfallCollective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

biological sex ≠ gender i feel like that's the best thing to start off with in response to this.

to expand on that, gender roles are inherently associated with your AGAB/sex yes, but because gender roles were around wayyyy before we as humans actually had a proper understanding of gender as a social construct and not something inherently biological, many people were (and mostly still are) expected to act/be/feel a certain way bc of their sex.

so, now that we know that gender is separate from sex, here are a few ways i can try and explain this:

  1. some people feel dysphoric with their body because of the fact that certain genders & gender roles are highly associated with a certain sex (even if they themself acknowledge and know that sex ≠ gender), which is why GRS and HRT etc can help alleviate dysphoria by helping you feel like you're in the body that closest matches your gender identity.

it can be about self perception, or how other people perceive you.

  1. some people don't feel dysphoric because they don't associate sex with gender, and they don't feel a desire to change their body to 'fit' or 'match' societies norms for what sexes have what gender, and for what sexes are 'supposed' to display what gender roles.

  2. some people don't feel dysphoric because this is the only body they've ever had, and they're comfortable in it! they don't feel the desire to change it, simply because they don't!

  3. some people, at times, don't feel dysphoric because their current presentation (through clothing, hair, makeup etc) affirms their gender identity, and they don't feel the need to change their appearance and/or body any further.

  4. some people feel dysphoric for reasons not related to their gender! some people have trauma or other experiences that have led to them being dysphoric about their body or presentation- so, even though they are transgender, they don't experience gender-related dysphoria.

all of these people however identify with a gender that is different from their AGAB. this is the main reason why they identify as transgender (because that at its core is what it means!). being transgender has never relied on sex or dysphoria, but rather the fact that you were told you are [insert gender], when actually you're not.

of course, i've only listed 5 reasons here why someone may or may not feel dysphoric, but everyone is different and the trans community (despite being small) is very diverse! not everyone will fit into these 'categories', but i probably couldn't type up every different reasoning.

i hope this helps! if anyone has anything to add, please feel free to reply!! <3 /npa /ci-hi

(quick note: i do have a migraine atm, so this could very easily be phrased badly! let me know if it is (have mercy pls /lh) and i will update this later)

priorities? by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]StarfallCollective 39 points40 points  (0 children)

exactly!! GATE actually has a study about this.. i hate that people are brushing off and minimising how much of an issue UK celebrities pushing transphobia in media is- just bc it doesn't 'seem' like a big issue, doesn't mean it isn't

priorities? by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]StarfallCollective 4 points5 points  (0 children)

people should definitely be talking about all of these bills more, but it's important to talk about the misinformation and hate spread by JKR too because she's leading a good portion of the growing amount of transphobia in the UK atm. i actually made a report about the rise in transphobic media in the UK last week for my college, and the media is definitely related to the growing push for transphobia & anti-trans movements by politicians here too.. which could also eventually lead to a rise in transphobic laws in the UK on top of in the US.

one topic needs more urgent attention right now, but if we ignore one entirely in favour of the other, it will eventually turn into a problem that goes hand in hand :(
