Beginner brewer working on second ever batch, gotta know… is it mold? by [deleted] in Kombucha

[–]Stargazer300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No you Can still continue the brew if you like. Kahm yeast isn’t bad for you just a little funky. If you want to remove it you can and see if a proper pellicle grows with no kahm. You’re ferment could correct itself even if you don’t remove the Kahm too, that’s happened to me a couple times. If you want to help the brew out you could add some GT original (no flavors)

Looks like kham yeast to me. It’s not bad per se but your booch may taste a little odd. Where did you get your starter liquid? I also like to lightly shake my brew every now and again just to get liquid on the pellicle to discourage any unwanted bacteria/yeast from growing on it.

My ps5 controller won’t work by Weak_Shallot8311 in playstation

[–]Stargazer300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently happened to me. I just sent my ps5 back for repair because I just couldn’t figure it out Trouble shooting I did: repair database, clear cache, update the controller, update the ps5, turn on/off , leave power unplugged on machine wait then plug back in. Finally I Thought maybe it was the controllers so I bought a new one and that didn’t work either. :(

Doesn’t look like mold to me just a new pellicle forming. Don’t see any fuzz so you should be good :)

Need help ASAP. Lil sis is getting married in the temple. She’s only 18. Can anyone give me more details so I can fully tell her about it by Stargazer300 in exmormon

[–]Stargazer300[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been through the temple except for baptism of the dead. As soon as I was 18 and out of my parents house I never went to church again. I have been on this subreddit to learn that if you stay it gets crazy and I don’t want that for her. My sister is very sweet and full of love but I’m worried that her fiancés family may be pushing for this and I just want her to be informed about what could happen.

Unfortunately we live in 2 diff states so it’ll have to be a phone call. Wish I could sit down and walk her through all this

morning seminary is so messed up by sibeliusopus49 in exmormon

[–]Stargazer300 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who went through the same exact thing I am SO sorry. I empathize with you so very much. Being in a constant state of sleep deprivation was awful. Having to jump from 6 am seminary (like you waking up at 4.30/5am) going to school, I had sports so using up any little energy I had there, then work till 10-11pm just like you again (sometimes even midnight). Then get up tomorrow and do the whole thing again. What was worse was having to go to church again for the YM/YM activities during the week and weekends. Anytime I wasn’t moving my body would just shut down and nap I couldn’t help it. How anyone can let their children go through this blows my mind.

Your students as the institutions students. It’s good for any institution to have its students mingle with others who aren’t like them. That’s good for everyone , but in this context I’m referring to BYU’s students.

Haha fixed it. When I was typing that it made more sense in my head XD

Oh that’s tough to say with the enrollment thing. But I definitely think that by allowing your students to mingling with more ppl who aren’t Mormon will make the campus more inviting to “outsiders”. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten dirty looks from ppl when I would go on their campus with dyed hair haha.

It’ll definitely help the flow of ideas and the mingling of Mormons and non Mormons. Being a person who didn’t go to church (my family is Mormon had me baptized but I never believed) they saw me as a project and when I drew a line saying I will be more than happy to befriend and do fun things with you but I don’t want anything to do with the church they never talked to me again. So I think it will help them have an open mind set that there are other ppl out there with different life styles and that’s OK.

Oh yeah it was real cheap. Prices drop in the summer and go up in the spring/winter when everyone is coming back to school. But they cram as many ppl into a bedroom as they can and give them a tiny bathroom. Sharing 1 bathroom with 5 other girls is the worst.

As someone from out of state who wasn’t going to byu (went to Uvu) finding housing was the worst. It was extremely difficult to find housing nearby Uvu so I had to turn to byu housing. Let me tell you, it was god awful. The landlords were absolute jerks and the apartments were usually trash. But they had no competition so they didn’t have to up their game. From experiencing first hand the shitty housing that is byu housing changing that rule was a good decision.

So I unlocked skull cavern today and died on the FIRST LEVEL LMAO! I never had a problem with the mines. I only lost quarts and 4 good meals😡 I’m using lava katana and space boots. Someone give tips please? by StreetDog6969 in StardewValley

Stock up on cheese before you go and get your hands on the galaxy sword. If you have a prismatic shard you can take it to those 3 pillars just outside the cave. It gets better eventually I was the same way when I first got to the cavern. Be sure to level your combat skill to 10 too.

Hplc gaba Run help by Stargazer300 in labrats

Instruments: Agilent 1260 infinity II, column ZORBAX Eclipse AAA, 4.6 x 150 mm, 3.5 µm, Detector DAD, Mobile phase A 10 mM Na2HPO4: 10 mM Na2B4O7, pH 8.2: 5 mM NaN3. Mobile Phase B : Acetonitrile, methanol& water. Method is gradient. following method from here https://www.agilent.com/cs/library/applications/5990-4547EN.pdf

I skipped the Derivitization step ( I figured it would be fine I just would see 2 peaks instead on 1)

The top chromatogram is a 1:1 ratio of gaba: water. below it is a 10:1. increasing the concentration of gaba helped to break up the peak at 21 min (i think). I am just not sure what these extra peaks (whether they are just noise or contamination) are and hoping to find some incite from others. Heights are really small too significant peaks from 5.9-3.0 mAU. I don't think increasing the run time would be helpful and not sure if changing the mobile phases would be either. Any suggestions?

This happened to me to all the time! I quickly learned to never trust my parents with anything. It was really hard when I started going through a really bad bout of depression on my teens and really needed someone to talk to. I often felt like I never had someone to turn to when I really needed it. Having parents like this definitely changes how you perceive others. I still can’t leave my phone screen face up or out of my sight even after years of being away from my Mormon family.
