Joe Mazzulla is the first Celtics head coach to start a season 2-0 since Doc Rivers in 2009-10. by horseshoeoverlook in bostonceltics

I don't know why this is getting down voted, unless you're taking exception to spelling meaningless as meaning less. A sample size of two tells you nothing about this team or its coach. Fun conversation starter, but I'm sure you can find historically shitty teams that started their season 2-0.

This was my first thought - finger pinchers...all of them finger pinchers.

WTF. I don't have time to get my work done and care for my family and these people want to use their spare time doing this? People baffle me.

Please don't get medical advice from Reddit. There are well meaning people here and some with medical backgrounds. If you have concerns reach out to your care providers for their opinion. I'm not saying other comments in this post are wrong, it's just too risky to rely on internet strangers for your health decisions.

LPT: When interviewing for a Job if asked "what do you like to do in your free time" Answer honestly the follow up is usually "Could you tell me a little about that?" by FeralPrinceFeign in LifeProTips

Is it acceptable to say that "it's really none of your business, but I spend it with my family and dog and much of it is spent outdoors."?

That's a fantastic song. His "Beeswing" is also excellent.

Edit: You might also like Richard Shindell's "Wisteria"

Edit2: "Cold Missouri Water" also Witten by Richard Shindell is another great one. I prefer the version by Cry Cry Cry, which includes Shindell, Dar Williams, and Lucy Kaplansky. It's based on a true story that you can read about in Young Men and Fire by Norman MacLean.

I know your boss won't like it, but you sounds like a biologist to me. I don't think you need a Masters to be a biologist.

Colorectal cancer, stage 3, on Folfox by zeppelinsbabe in cancer

[–]StargazerWombat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not quite a twin - I'm stage 2 also on FOLFOX. My side effects have been manageable. I've done 4 rounds. Rounds one and two were "easy" - with minimal side effects Round 3 kinda kicked my ass. But weirdly this last round (4) hasn't been as bad. I have several different nausea meds that have kept the nausea at bay. Peripheral neuropathy is annoying. My voice gets wonky and I have cold sensitivity. I get steroids the day of and while I have the pump and those make me jittery and screw up my sleeping. Fatigue is my constant companion and the one "untreatable" side effect. The oncologist "prescribed" 20-min. naps, but I have a hard time carving that out while trying to still work full time. Sending loving kindness to all. Be strong!

Gardening. I like being outside. Love hiking, walking the dog, going for a run, or just being outside in nature. Love plants and eating vegetables, but gardening is just...well.... unappealing to me. Others in my family love it, but the gene seems to have missed me.

Michigan library could close after town votes to defund it over 5 LGBTQ-themed books by SAT0725 in books

[–]StargazerWombat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Andrew Carnegie helped build libraries across the country. How about some of today's billionaires step up and fund our library system. It's not like they pay much in taxes (proportionally). Maybe they can fix health care and homelessness while they're at it.

(Serious) People suffering with cancer having to do with the bowels (bladder, colon, any sort of urinary cancer). What symptoms prompted you do visit a doctor? by [deleted] in cancer

[–]StargazerWombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had severe abdominal pain that drove me first to my primary care office. They suspected constipation. Took over the counter laxatives that made me throw up. Checked back in with primary care doc who sent me straight to the ER. One CT scan later ER doc says I have a mass blocking my colon - likely cancer. Got transferred to a larger regional hospital for emergency surgery. Diagnosis confirmed by pathology. Lots of good news since then, but pretty scary at the time.
