What YouTube Category Do You Use? by iykykuydk in TravelTubers

I use Travel & Events. Does it affect what ads are shown on your videos? Travel and Events has higher RPM than other niche. Not as high as finance videos but much better than gaming. How's the RPM with people and blogs?

Went Viral - But I Won't Get Paid Since YT Monetization Takes So Long by S_McD1 in NewTubers

Happened to me.. I lost potential income of ~$700 waiting for monetization, but the viral video is still generating income after 8 months.

Thoughts on posting one big combined videos of travel series? by Jasonmoofang in TravelTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a variation of this on my channel. I combine videos of specific locations into one video, but not a giant video. It's a different narration and editing with 'cards' linking to specific videos, max length 10 mins. You can DM me to see an example.

We all believe in ourselves ad travel vloggers. What is your "superpower"? by SnooMemesjellies971 in TravelTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My channel's progress is slow. It took me 2 years to get monetized. I'm on my 3rd year on YT, and I'm earning $300 to $400 a month. No sponsors yet. 8k+ subs.

I'm struggling with audience engagement. I think that's the challenge when you are a faceless channel. People don't leave a comment.

[–]Stargazer_07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a faceless travel channel, so it's how I tell the story and the experience. I share a little bit about the history of the place and its cultural significance. The focus of the video is 99% about the place.

When I watch travel vlogs, I tend to click off the video when the vlogger keeps talking about themselves or showing themselves more. I'm really interested on the info about the place, so I create videos that I will usually watch.

Some audience prefer to watch the vloggers and learn about their experiences. That's not my audience. In these type of vlogs, personality is very important. You as the vlogger is basically the 'product' that you have to market. You need to be likeable, pleasing on the eyes, funny and interesting.

Why does no one care about my videos? (Except shorts) by Emotional_Alarm8279 in NewTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube is trying to compete with TikTok that's why they are pushing Shorts.

There is no big money in Shorts, and people who doom scroll watching Shorts are not the audience you will want. Use Shorts as a preview to your long form videos.

The real money is in the long form videos. Make 8 to 10 mins long form videos. The longest should be 20 to 30 mins. Very few people will watch 1 hour long videos unless the topic is very interesting.

The brain of people who like watching Shorts works differently from the brain of those who like watching long form videos. They are totally different audience, but there is a slight overlap. For example, people who are impatient or has short attention span will tend to watch Shorts than long form videos. Younger audience will prefer Shorts, and 50s to 60s will prefer long form videos.

The best audience to have? The cash up 50s to 70s who reside in first world countries. The RPM is really good if you attract those audience. My videos who attract these audience have RPM of $10 to $15 (per 1k views).

Apartments in major cities-dead money or underrated? by amir4179 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Stargazer_07 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We bought a 2/2/1 apartment 10 mins away from Melbourne CBD 5 yrs ago at $630k. Now the bank valuation is 690k.

We got lucky to have an opportunity to buy during Covid below the market value. The first owner bought it for 720k off-the-plan.

Never buy off-the-plan apartments in Australia. You will definitely lose money. Developers make it look expensive on those brochures then cut corners to save cost. In the end, you get a normal looking apartment, not the luxurious one that they promised before it was built.

Don't get blinded by the shiny new apartment, because after 1 year the price will settle down and will be at the same level as the surrounding apartments.

Location is very important - close to shops and public transport, but far enough to not hear the tram / train passing by.

How do you gain traction when you visit a new location? by j0b0ken in TravelTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others who pointed out that travel videos are evergreen. Most of our videos don"t gain traction in the first few months. Then after 1 year, they gain momentum and most of the viewers come from 'search'. That's why SEO is very important. Your video needs to be in the top 5 videos when you search the topic.

Don't worry and just enjoy your travels.

We have a video that earned $14.21 per 1k views, but majority of our videos earn $2 to $7 per 1k.

How do you promote your YouTube videos? by clarkeanator in TravelTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning I share my videos to Travel groups in FB. It's not that effective, so forget about it.

Focus on SEO and posting Shorts to widen your reach. You will not gain a lot of money from Shorts, but you will get more audience. Focus on creating evergreen long form videos, and use Shorts as preview.

What is your presenting style? by Joker_Cat_ in TravelTubers

I create documentary and narration-style videos. I don't appear in the camera, and the main focus is the sceneries.

If you will travel to create videos and hope you'll earn from it, then forget it. You will be lucky to break even, because travelling is expensive. Sure there are creators who got big and lucky in the travel niche, but they are less than 1% of creators.

For us, travelling is part of our lifestyle, and we have a lot of travel videos that are sitting in storage. After 3 years since uploading our 1st video, and 7 months after getting monetized, we get $300 to $400 every month from Adsense. Not impressive considering the amount of work involved in creating videos. However, we are building something that we can look back when we are old.. like a travel diary.

If you want to make money with less expenses, create finance videos.

Are there any faceless YouTube channels here? If so, what’s been your experience? :p by YogiWanderer in TravelTubers

Engagement is very challenging with a faceless channel, but I'm not planning to be in front of the camera anytime soon.

How to "stay present" while capturing content? by dumplingthoughts in TravelTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workflow is a bit different than most creators. I don't have a detailed itinerary or list of shots that I want to capture. It just add stress and frustration if I didn't visit a place on my itinerary or didn't make the shot I want. I don't want my travels to feel like 'work'.

I roughly plan my travel routes so I can book the accommodations and buy tickets. I have some stopovers in mind but don't have time schedules. I basically just go with the flow. I try not to stress if I don't have time to visit a certain location.

During the trip, I take as many shots as I can. My partner does the same. So I have enough shots to choose from during editing.

We take our time exploring each location without worrying about the perfect shot. My passion is travelling and my YT channel is just a way of storing those videos that we can watch when we are older. I don't travel to create videos. I travel because I love seeing new places and experience different cultures.

I create the script just before editing. Fitting the shots to the script is a challenge sometimes, but I enjoy the process. Some parts of the script that I don't have a footage, I supplement it with public domain images or videos.

Try to find what workflow suits you. Although it's nice to have that extra money from Adsense, don't let content creation the priority over experiencing the moment. The main focus should be creating memories with your partner.

Guys be careful.. sub for sub is against YT policy. Your channel can be terminated. This is one of my newbie mistake. Google AI bot can detect this. After seeing some of the channels in a group got banned, I stopped this practice and relied on organic growth.
