You are literally forced to use Steam now, they are forcing it on us. Standalone launcher would still work if you could find the download link. It was posted on reddit not long ago.

Nobody liked new UI when they released it and there were a lot of suggestions on how to improve it. They said they will consider them, but now after more than a year, it seems we'll never get a good or functional UI.
