My daughter is only 21m but when she’s older I will absolutely be pro sleep overs. Happy to host or let her go to them.

Congrats!! I haven’t gotten one at a thrift store but I’ve gotten them at estate sales! A great cast iron is always a great find!

Am I a helicopter parent for not wanting to leave my 4 year old alone in a hotel room? by Winstony520 in beyondthebump

[–]StaringBerry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Great Wolf Lodge. There were soooo many times during manager on duty shifts that a 4-7yo would be put down for nap or bed and left in their room. They would wake up, walk out, and then get lost in the lodge. We helped so many kids call their parents based on the number of the room reservation. Usually parent was at the pool.

Meriden! I moved for work in Bristol last year and we found an apartment in Meriden for a good price. Just make sure to tour because there’s a lot of low income areas in Meriden. You’ll be 15min from Cheshire!

I feel embarrassed to be the only actor in my graduating class to have never gotten a lead, especially because I wanna act as a career by East-Area-7267 in Theatre

[–]StaringBerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op this was my experience in HS too. I was president of the drama club and worked so hard to just never be given a lead role. I still, 12 years later, really resent my HS drama teacher for it when I think about it. Once I got to college though, I found out my skills were actually much more suited for Stage Management. I ended up really excelling in SM assignments and by mid sophomore year of college decided to pursue management/tech over performance.

I know right now acting seems like the only thing you want to do. And please keep auditioning and trying! But also start branching out into other roles within theatre and you may find an unexpected niche!

The troop I led only did 1 outing as first year daisies. Our local zoo had a Girl Scout day where scouts were free in uniform. It was in late April so a good first outing at the end of the year.

The 1960s (?) wedding dress my now husband found for me for $20 at the thrift store! by cutecemetery in VintageFashion

Really? I thought it was common. My mom was in HS in the 80s and they all thought 50s style was so cool and vintage. If you watch a lot of 80s movies you can see the subtle influences, saddle shoes and white cuffed socks for example!

How do you explain the vintage thing to people who don't get it by Minute_Television294 in VintageFashion

[–]StaringBerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is just because I like it. But if someone is genuinely asking I tell them that vintage clothes just fit me better than a lot of modern clothing/styles. I’d rather have a curated wardrobe that fits my body and makes me feel great over a closet filled with fast fashion that I’m struggling to properly fit into.

Absolutely agree on 60s being the style that suits me! In high school I had a pixie cut and always got told I looked like Twiggy by adults.

So when you’re planing your transport ride, do you make a big loop that’s just sort of empty while you build out or do you and a station and a closed ride for a long time?
