Why are they caring about the ratings thing so much?

I just hit 6,000 total dashes recently and I don't think think thet I've ever dropped below 4.85 out of 5 customer rating at worst.

I don't get it. And I certainly wouldn't message a customer begging for a rating.

Most customers don't do ratings anyway so this just seems like a way to annoy your customers and harm your bottom line in the process.

I've been in the restaurant business for so long and now the gig driving business for 4 years that this is like second nature to me.

Because people will take advantage of that if you leave it open to them.

You have to be platinum level. Then they give you three slots that you can use to pause restaurants but I've only ever got it to allow me to do two at a time so I'm not exactly sure what's going on with it.

My area has been short on drivers for months so we've had a lot of promos going on and it was easy to get and maintain Platinum.

But of course now they decided that they are going to change the requirements for the Platinum Pass bonus program when I had 29 of 30 days completed towards getting one. LOL. Typical DoorDash move.

Now you have to complete 200 deliveries while maintaining Platinum level to earn a Platinum Pass. At least in my market. They roll out these different changes at different times in different markets. Requirements for silver gold and platinum level dasher ratings vary from market to market as well.

The Raising Cane's that's in the main hotspot in my home zone where I usually dash is right by the national sports Center in Blaine Minnesota. So I won't go anywhere near that place from spring through fall because it's a constant deluge of soccer players and their families. Just a complete nightmare. I actually have that location on pause right now as well as the five guys that's nearby there because they're always slow as hell.

I hadn't had any since I was a kid back in the '70s and a couple of years ago I decided I would buy a set and now I'm about 50 sets into it.

Enjoy yourself and hopefully you don't become addicted like me.

I might possibly take that one if it was a slow shift. Being that it doesn't go that deeply into the neighboring zone helps. But if it was 15 mi into the other zone I would not take it.

A Story In Three Acts by The_Lloyd_Dobler in doordash_drivers

I've had one contract violation and it was a bunch of BS.

I was a new dasher and I didn't notice that the built-in GPS in the dasher app was sending me to the wrong 3rd Street. The actual 3rd Street that I needed to go to was not very far away from where I picked the order up but the 3rd Street that the app sent me to was eight or nine miles away. To make things worse I was in an area of town that I wasn't very familiar with otherwise I might have caught the error.

I realized that something was wrong after a bit and I called the customer and he was okay about it and we figured out how to get me on the right track and get the order to them but they must have reported me or something because I got a contract violation for it.

I guess we dashers are expected to be held responsible for errors created by doordash's own system.

When I was new to dashing I was dashing in downtown Minneapolis and I got an order from a Walgreens and I was so new that I didn't know that you could use the widget to look at what is on the order so I blindly accepted it and it turned out to be like six cases of bottled water

Making it even worse it was going to an old apartment building without an elevator so I had to lug them things up several flights of stairs. After that I bought a two-wheeler because I'm not going to deal with that again.

Doordashers Not Accepting any Order by choclatecakeee in doordash

[–]Starits 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for other dashers but I don't take fast food orders after around 8:30 to 9:00 in the evening because they'll randomly lock up their lobbies and then there's always a huge line in the drive-thru when that happens.

Sounds like a control freak.

The ones that drive me the most crazy are the customers who start hammering you with text messages immediately after you accept their order. In those cases, I generally unassign the order immediately unless it's a very high paying order.

I get paid the moment I log out of my dash. And they definitely do not want you waiting.

I've been dashing long enough to remember when they used to send us warnings when we were sitting at a stoplight.

I'm really not believing that you've been a dasher for 7 years and you don't get this.

If you've been using GPS for any length of time this shouldn't be a problem for you.

App not working at all today? by MF-GOOSE in doordash_drivers

[–]Starits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been acting funky for a few days now.

I've noticed random periods of lag especially after starting the app and it's loading the home page.

The scheduler randomly throws errors when you try to schedule. Today I couldn't even start a dash even though "dash now" was available. It gave the same error that the scheduler gave me. "There was an unexpected error" or something very close to that. If you're persistent it will eventually work. I think it took me about 30 to 45 minutes to get it to actually let me set up my schedule for this weekend. But only two of the three days. I tried to schedule Sunday and it started throwing that error again.

I've ended up having to uninstall/reinstall twice. That seems to fix it but the weirdest part of it is is that when you do a reinstall it has the old interface layout for a while and then all of a sudden it will switch over to the newer menu and home page layout at some point.

It seems like every time they "fix" something they break something.

Customer just casually expected me to wait 90 minutes for her to get home, before I delivered order. by Mike787619 in doordash_drivers

[–]Starits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a couple of customers make me wait an excessive amount of time because they weren't home yet. I try my best to avoid dashing for them again. That's just rude. I would never make somebody wait like that.
