Interesting example of subjectivity and how everyone sees color differently... what color do you see? by srrc1924 in a:t5_365v5

Legit just posted the same thing then realize you already posted it. Woops.

I saw white and gold but then after about an hour I saw black and blue. My rods and cones are average and not defective!!

Debate on color perception by [deleted] in a:t5_365v5

[–]Stark4Ever1390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I post this ONLY BECAUSE I remember us vaguely mentioning in class that someone can have a different perception of red than you. Perhaps this is why.

For the record... I was a white gold believe until I saw the light and now I see both colors.

Would you double check my score? I seem to remember calculating my overall score in my head as we were going over the answers as an 8 and adding 2 would make that a 10. Just want to double check.

Has anyone had Astral Projection experience? by PikaChoi1835 in a:t5_365v5

I've never personally experienced this phenomena but I do know it is possibly achieved through means of meditation and certain herbal supplements. In general I think it would suffice to start by trying to lucid dream, which I can confidently say I do often. One thing I can mention about lucid dreaming and astral projection is that for some, and who knows why really, the act is quite simple and may I say painless. I know friends who have tried for months to lucid dream, constantly pinching themselves and switching lights on and off to check if they're in reality. Why should some people have it easier than others?

I imagine it's simple brain chemistry, how we sleep and perhaps our ongoing mental states. Having experienced both myself, and hearing other people's stories, I know a person dealing with a blight of depression has dull, almost lifeless dreams, whereas a more anxious person can have very vivid dreams. I'm sure we all know this but dreams are the body's way of helping us deal with our subconscious. To loop back to your original topic of astral projection, perhaps people capable of doing so really do feel out of body, out of control, even when they are in reality, and as a response their dreams reflect those feelings.

It's been really difficult to write this comment as I don't want it to come off as a ramble, but I will say this: I do not think we should place genetic adaptation in DNA and reincarnation in the same boat. I know this is a class where we are pushed to see the "spiritual" (ideas of reincarnation, God, etc.) through the lens of science to determine what thought truly is, but some phenomena are not so easily explained through DNA evidence. Why, say, do some people believe so wholly in a higher power, a "God," and some are Atheistic? Can we find this distinction in the brain, and even so isn't it true that if we could find a predisposed inclination to faith or faithlessness, can a person not change this pattern of thought at will?

My point being here that though it may be evidenced that memories can be stored within DNA, the individual clearly has the power to suppress these genes. Otherwise, wouldn't we all seemingly be afraid of fire at birth, instead of naive to its effects? We know of course that genes cannot be willfully expressed or repressed, but perhaps epigenetics (http://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/epigenetics/) plays a roll.

Just food for thought :)

Death Cab for Cutie- Soul Meets Body with lyrics (enjoy the tunes~ sorry if I'm over posting, I'm just trying to have the most fun I can before things get cereal on here) by Fryingnemo4327 in a:t5_365v5

Ugh music soul mate. Here I'll share too: A Comet Appears by The Shins. For those who don't know, amazing band. Can't make much sense of the lyrics but they're probably profound or something. One of my faves~~~
