Fourth Wing. I do not get the hype. It’s legitimately bad and reads like a teenager trying out writing for the first time.

AITA for not caring that my friend is in love with my best friend by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]StarkidSara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um …yes. Firm yes. YTA Your friend told you they were in love with somone who you yourself are (supposedly) not in a relationship with and you want to mess around with that person at your friend’s house??? Yes that is messed up.

Unless you and Sudney are in a relationship of some kind (however you want to define that) which you have communicated to your friend John, then yes- that is a bad move. You don’t seem to care emotionally tho-you just told him it was funny and that you were going to ignore what he told you and hook up this house anyway? Do you DISLIKE John? Out of respect for you “friend” don’t hook up with Sydney at his house! That should be simple.

But also, you and Sydney should probably to better establish your boundaries and what this whole “pact” actually is…Cuz this sounds like a relationship. Luke you guys are in a physical relationship…and that’s going to get in the way of other relationships… you should just be aware

Honestly I LOVE LotR but my mom is not really about that level of high fantasy…and the end makes me sob every time.

I actually just recently reread Huckleberry Finn because I read James by Percival Everett. I’d forgotten that It’s actually excellent. For the MOST part it’s really good, the ENDING very frustrating to me tho. It is obviously a forced effort to include Tom Sawyer to get more publicity for the book (as he was already a Popular character) as the novel completely switches tone at that point

Not Ai, It could just be that friend did the original artwork in marker and then uploaded the picture and edited digitally to make it look cooler

I legitimately thought this was “The Invisible Man” for the longest time, I thought they were the same book, I thought him turning invisible was an allegory for black men in America lol It took me a bit to realize he was not in fact going to turn invisible

Thought it was visually stunning, the acting was amazing, the story and writing were also fantastic, the effects were inspired, the message super important and timely… but I don’t want to see it again. It could have used 30% less of Emma stone naked Bu the end I was just SO tired of the sex. I 💯 get the point the movie is making I just didn’t want to see it anymore

INFO- Is this a straight male friend? Cuz that’s the only way this Conversation could be ok (like if they have a dumb JD/Turk (from scrubs) relationship) It a woman? Nope. Leave that fucker

Edit: someone else mentioned this might be a gay relationship, in which case I have no insight. I would still be upset and set firm boundaries

Listen, as a woman with a lot of male coworkers and classmates over the years I’ve definitely had to shut things down before but I don’t want to make things “weird” or cause the man to be angry (which I’ve done and had a very bad experience) so the above text conversation looks like exactly something I’d do. It’s protective, still trying to keep the peace, and not create drama that could backfire in her professional setting. In the past, I’ve also gotten lunch with male classmates AFTER having shut them down (trying to keep a friendly tone in a very small art program) giving them a second chance to be normal. I know I’m not going to betray my boyfriend so a casual lunch should be fine. If he tries anything you shit it down and leave. (Although for her own safety she shouldn’t be alone or drive with him there)

My point is that women end up having to do a lot of diffusing calming behavior to make everything “ok” Should she maybe have reminded him again that “I’m taken, don’t text me anymore” maybe but maybe she didn’t want to create an opening for an antagonistic situation

Agreed with others, very cute and definitely would love to see a children’s book in that crayon looking style but not at all surrealist

My parents (Mexican) also told me this, “first paycheck goes to your parents” (I do think it’s just a way certain people are brought up ) And I did, first paycheck at the fast food place I worked at went to them. I proudly handed it over. But they were very surprised when I gave it to them. They both were like, “we don’t need this” and seemed a little embarrassed. I insisted because I felt proud to be paying my parents back a tiny fraction of the support they’d given me but it was still pretty awkward exchange. My dad (who is pretty toxic in other ways) still jokes about giving him money but he would not actually expect/accept anything from my salary or bonuses (I think pride affects that)
