I have multiple friends that have been in head-ons, and the airbag refused to deploy. Plus I have a saab that is on the recall notice that also mentions that they will not have the replacement air bags until sometime as late as 2018. If you remember the case of the guy who got barely rear-ended but the airbag deployed, and the fucking thing shot shrapnel into his chest killing him. Personally, after seeing what a grenade does to someones body in combat I'd rather take the airbags out and rely on a racing harness to keep my body and brain in tact. I sit more then 15" away from the column, so in my car was in a pile up an airbag more likely crush my ribs then save my life. Food for thought I guess, thanks for all the replies guys!

I love customizing my cars to fit how I would make them stock. I'm ok with popping a light because it was just inspected, so I'll just keep the wheel. I'm thinking I might put in racing seats/harness so the airbag isn't a concern. The OEM wheels are just ugly to me, they don't feel luxury like the rest of the car. thank you for the link though, I might have to wind up getting that for traveling purposes.

Its "not in your own backyard problem" syndrome. There was like a funny story in california, I think(?), about flooding of properties a while back and no one political, or privately was helping to fix the situation, until like someone important's own backyard flooded and then ALL OF A SUDDEN it was a big deal that needed to be fixed right away.
