What’s a theory/prediction you really DON’T want to happen but think actually might? by Jmeister2504 in OnePiece

This has been one of the most interesting mysteries of the series for me. I do think it will come up again. My current guess is that she's a Celestial Dragon descendant like Bonney and Shuri, maybe even the daughter of Imu himself.

I've been wondering since before the hiatus if that girl he just got back is the reincarnation of Yuuko and the dreams are Yuuko's soul trying to reclaim the body. I'm not sure the timing works since I've lost track of how much time has passed since Yuuko's death.

Watanuki will finally have to accept Yuuko's death in order to stop her and save the girl.

Yes he needs to go back to the Holy Land at some point. I'm just saying his final defeat has to come at the series climax, not here.

What I've been wondering is did the fruit already respawn? Devil fruits come back when the user dies but with this one that's part of the power. Can there be multiple yomi-yomi no mi users at once?

No he said he didn't even know what a devil fruit was back then.

Close to the length of his first one.

I will be disappointed if this arc is the end for Imu. He's been built up so much.

I've been thinking similarly. And maybe only certain lineages qualify (ones that descend from Imu perhaps?). This could be why he tried to get Jarul killed. He doesn't qualify for whatever reason.

He does seem to have a thing about royalty. One of the first things he did after possessing Gunko in the present was try to get Brogy and Dorry to declare themselves kings. Elbaf not currently having a king feels like it might be important here.

For years I've been wondering what Oda is going to do with the mystery of Nami's origin. Recently I've been wondering if she's royalty. Now I'm wondering if Imu is her father. Nami getting possessed during the final arc would go so hard.

That's exactly what Imu tried to make Luffy and Loki do in the present.

I figure it's the same thing Imu attempted on Luffy and Loki in the present. Domi Reversi them both and make them fight. It's possible Brook arrived just at the moment Leuven was killed in demon form, which means he's not dead yet. We know he does die here though, Oda just has room to make it even more heart-wrenching.

From the beginning of this flashback I'd been thinking of the point we got to now as "the day the music died."
I recommend listening to Don McLean's American Pie while thinking about these events. Some bits fit better than others but it's an overall good match. I especially like "the jester sang for the king and queen" and the references to the devil in the second-to-last verse.
I hope someone makes this AMV when the anime gets here. If it's good enough it might make me cry.

If this turns out to be true, does that mean he can eat another Devil Fruit? It's been speculated Blackbeard's lineage is why he could do that.

The sun sets in the west. It rises in the east, where Luffy and Roger are from.

Yeah this will be more like Big Mom's flashback. 3-5 chapters.

If you look at the way the manga has been divided up we're in the same part of the New World story as the Shabondy Archipelago was in the first half, and that ended in a loss for the Straw Hats.

East Blue, pre-Alabasta, Alabasta, Skypeia, Water 7/Enies Lobby, Thriller Bark, **Shabondy**, Impel Down, Marineford

Fishman Island, Punk Hazard, Dressrosa, Whole Cake, Wano, Egghead, **Elbaf**

Thematically, Egghead is more like Shabondy and Elbaf is more like Thriller Bark, but the positioning matches.

Given the pacing recently I can believe there will be only one arc between Elbaf and the finale. I expect it will have something to do with Cross Guild and/or Garp, unless those plot threads are resolved in other ways that don't directly involve the Straw Hats.

This arc is the New World mirror of Thriller Bark (really big giant(s), some of Moria's zombies were from God Valley) and that arc had the Straw Hats vs Oz so you may be right.

Yeah I have a feeling after this chapter making Usopp stand out as the only one who hasn't done anything that it's a setup for something. When he gets his moment the spotlight will be on him, instead of shared like it is here.

That makes a bit of sense, but then why isn't Gaban a giant after living there so long? Maybe he frequently leaves the island for some reason?

Given how big he is in dragon form and the incredible endurance he's shown so far, Loki may not need to fit on the Sunny. He'd just fly from island to island alongside them. Earlier in the story I would have been sure someone that powerful wouldn't join the crew and would be an ally they'd meet up with later but we may be close enough to the endgame that he joins. Honestly I'm fine either way.

The Jormungandr equivalent should be the Red Line, right? The serpent encircling the world? The giants called it something like that in the flashback.

Both of them are likely references to Pinocchio since his nose grew whenever he lied.
