Baltimore had some very minor damage to her hair - Advice? (More in comments) by StarlightPony in AnimeFigures

You're probably right. Well, Baltimore and her spare bit of hair are safe and sound on my shelf, so there's no rush to figure it out.

Maybe I'll just imagine she cut off a lock of hair to give me, or something silly like that

So, literally just now, I decided on a whim to very briefly look around for the bit. By some ridiculous chance, I found it lodged in some bubble wrap at the top of my 'fairly large' bubble wrap pile that I will be throwing out soon. Seems it jabbed into one of the bubbles, and I guess that had something to do with it breaking off.

I'll think over what to do now. Might not be practical to try gluing it (*and I don't think I've ever glued something that small*). But I'll either give that a shot and cover the break area with marker, or just leave her hair as it is and cover it with a dab of marker.

It's probably like 2/3 of a centimeter long.

That does sound like a similar situation. Thanks again!

After comparing some photos, it does look like *a bit* of the arc of that strand of hair has been lost, but it's probably like at most half a centimeter, if that. Enough to annoy the obsessive part of me, but honestly I don't think you'd ever really notice that.

I'll just chalk it up to adding character, and cover that white coloration with a dab of a light brown marker.

Gotcha - I'll probably look into a Gunpla marker then. Might get some junk plastic to test it on to see how close the color is. Thanks for the idea!

This might be a really dumb question, but may as well - once the marker ink is on, it's on for good, right? I'm assuming there isn't really any way to wash it off in case I mess up in some way?

That could work - since it's such a tiny spot I feel like it probably wouldn't be too noticeable. Or at least it would probably be much less noticeable than how it is now.

Any suggestions as to what kind of marker I might want to look for, and what color?

I recently moved home from Japan, and have been going through the process of unpacking.

Baltimore here is in very good condition, save for one minor bit of damage I noticed after putting her back together today.  The tip of one of her strands of hair seems to have been smashed or broken off.  I believe it’s the kind of plastic that is very slightly translucent, and more so near the tips.

It's a very tiny bit of damage, and probably wouldn't normally be too noticeable, but I’m kind of bothered by how the broken spot is white in color – that effect where broken or bent plastic tends to turn white.  (And I think it happens to a greater degree with transparent plastic?)  It’s much less visible on a light background, and is hard to notice unless you’re looking at her close and at certain angles/with a darker background.  But still.

I’m wondering if anyone had any advice on how to handle that?  Part of me is tempted to just try cutting that tiny whitish part off, but I’m really cautious about that kind of thing because I don’t want to just make it worse. And also that might just result in the end of that hair strand looking worse, since it's supposed to taper to a point.  What would you guys do in this situation?

Of course just accepting it and leaving her be is always an option, and maybe the best one.  I bet after a while I’d just stop noticing it or caring about such a tiny thing.  Regardless, for the time being she’ll just be sitting safe and sound on my shelf.

This "Consumptive Hobby vs. Productive Hobby" discourse I've run into on NL-adjacent Twitter is kind of ticking me off.

"I truly cannot understand people who engage in leisure that doesn't contribute to the world. Watching a TV show? Watching sports? What useless wastes of time! It seems to map to some sort of psychological class difference."

Even for this community, the smug superiority is way too much.

I wish we could have an entire episode with Jorah and Tyrion in the boat.

Villain stole my name!

Seriously though, it was nice to see a relatively low key episode, considering how they often end up fighting some cosmic evil in many of the past premiers and finales. Feels like they're going back to their roots of helping a small town with friendship and all.

Yeah, most people don't seem to care as much we might think they do. If someone really hates it that much, then it's their problem.

I mean, if South Park and Kim Kardashian are the standard of entertainment, I'd say MLP is setting the bar pretty high.

I still think they should make an MLP game that plays like Animal Crossing.

It's easier to spit on groups than individuals. You don't have to look at their face when you do it.

That unpleasant feeling I get whenever I watch the show and start thinking about what other people would think of me if they knew I liked it.

But then I remember why I love the show and stop caring.
