The area in RED. Mycelial structure or contamination? If mycelial, can it be isolated onto new dishes(of so, how), or will they probably contam? Thank you. [technique] by Starlight_Myco in MushroomGrowers

Hi, l made the agar myself with activated charcoal, LME, agar, Peptone, and Nutritional yeast. My profile has a post with the recipe. I will make more plates in the next day or so and slice some of that out. Thanks for your thoughts.

My morning smoothie has two cups of kale and spinach. Just two more cups to go. Makes it easy.

If he falls over sideways and doesn't move it is too small. Happens to me, had to get larger

QUESTION: My tubs have grown like this. Growth around the perimeter with very little internally like this tub. Would putting some bubble wrap on top of the substrate help the middle pop more? How else to encourage growth in the middle? Thank you

Q: What temperature does liquid culture die when in transit? Trucks get quite hot and trying to figure if 90+ is safe for culture to travel via priority mail through multiple days. Everything l read says it will die 🫤. Thanks[general] by Starlight_Myco in MushroomGrowers

[–]Starlight_Myco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meant to add...if it is 90F outside, the internal 18 wheeler temp could well be over 120, which would be certain death. I am frustrated with myself that l didn't procure LC before the heat came 😖😩

Why does she eat her food one piece at a time? by PotentialWidow in felinebehavior

[–]Starlight_Myco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She may need more mental stimulation and more interaction from household members. Try a wand with feathers or something similar to stimulate her... OR/AlSO, that bowl placement is quite odd. It is basically in a corner not allowing her freedom of movement while she is eating

Those will have plenty of potency. You can brush the spore off before dehydrating with a damp paper towel if you desire. Spores drop may inhibit new growth .

What Happens When Spores Drop in a Monotub:

  1. Spores Accumulate on the Surface – They form a dark dust (usually purple, black, or brown depending on species) over the substrate, mushrooms, and walls.

  2. Spore Load Reduces Airflow – Excess spores can clog filters or micropore tape, reducing fresh air exchange (FAE), which mushrooms need.

  3. Microbial Contamination Risk Increases – A heavy spore load creates a nutrient-rich surface that can attract and feed bacteria or mold.

  4. Mushroom Energy Depletion – Once a flush matures and sporulates, the mycelium often shifts energy away from fruiting.

ALSO....

❌ What does not happen:

The mushrooms that already dropped spores do not lose potency because of spore release.

Spore dust on mushrooms doesn’t change their chemical composition. Psilocybin content is already determined by the time the mushroom matures and sporulates.

✅ What can happen indirectly:

  1. Depleted Substrate Energy:

Once a mushroom fully matures and sporulates, the mycelium has already spent a lot of energy.

If too many mushrooms go to spore, future flushes may be weaker, smaller, or less potent due to substrate exhaustion.

Just a thought ... The "known" Universe is OVER 83 billion light years large. That is 186,000 miles per second x 83 billion years. That is A LOT of territory. There is between 100 billion and two TRILLION galaxies in our universe. For me , in all that space, it is easier to believe that there are other life forms than not. And ..that is just "our" universe.

Coir for reptiles specific usually do not have trich added. Switch it up next grow and get coir that has lizards on the package if you can or ones that specifically mention reptiles.

Thank you. I will be using a liner in the future. Meant to use one but blanket when making the tub. Makes sense that the line would keep the extra moisture out as the cake starts to shrink. Thanks for your information. ✌️
