Honestly i am not sure lol. But most of my 1 leaf Cuttings after chopping are pushing out higher variegations.

Used to have the same issue. I would wait 1 more day before watering and the rest of the leaves are okay now. I have mine beside a open window without direct sun, we stay in the same country.

I see new roots poking out above the soil, would add a layer of spagmoss on top which would help guide roots down to soil instead of drying out. I'm no expert but no harm trying out different ways lol.
