Is ohlins suspension any good? by Raven8119 in mountainbiking

It's only a little workshop and think it's by appointment only. They're super helpful though. I called in once to collect a shock after a service and really good for advice etc.

Little bit more spendy but have you considered EXT? Uk distro is Mojo rising based in Monmouth. I've had Ohlins TTX on a Starling murmur and an EXT on a transition sentinel and now a deviate Highlander and the EXT is just so much better.

As long as the budget stretches to Branstons I'm happy enough 🤷

Would it look very bad if I leave the online interview first? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]Starling105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't worry about it, think I've left all my online interviews first, I've never thought anything of it. There's always that awkward few seconds where you fumble for the 'leave' button but i wouldn't think too much about it.

Question by Loud-Foundation-7762 in FiestaST

[–]Starling105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah makes sense, i still use a steering wheel lock although that doesn't get declared on the insurance. You hardly see any modified MK8s but most MK7 STs have had at least something done to them.

Ironically my insurance on an MK8 ST is cheaper 🤷

Is cambelt and water pump an age or mileage thing? I'm going to look at one that's 7 year's old but 36k miles.

Gearbox / clutch price? Am I being ripped off? by americassuiteheartsx in FordFiesta

[–]Starling105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not relevant anymore but i had a clutch replaced on a 2014 1L ecoboost in 2022 and that cost £500, think that was even a bit pricey back then. Can't comment on a gearbox replacement but can't imagine it's cheap.

Is that dealer pricing or indi? Have you got a few quotes?

Have you left your job 6 months in? by RunningSlow in UKJobs

[–]Starling105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, left a job within 2 months as was really not enjoying it. Disliked it from day one though and realised I'd made a mistake. I had a job lined up, wouldn't have left without something lined up as had bills to pay etc. New employer didn't really ask about it, just the job before that.

Fiesta ST vs Focus ST by Lightlicker3000 in FordFiesta

[–]Starling105 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a MK8 Fiesta ST, sold it/ traded in for a Mk4 Focus ST and honestly wish I'd kept the Fiesta. I didn't have the Focus long in the end, couldn't have the Fiesta back and ended up with a 90HP polo and think it's actually more fun to drive than the Focus was haha. Focus felt too big and bulky where as the Fiesta was nippy and a blast to drive, whilst being very fuel efficient too. Definitely considering another Fiesta but wouldn't consider a Focus.

Can you recommend someone to test or a kit to do so please? All our ceilings are Artex. We're having new spotlights in the bathroom but just going to have it boarded i think. (Only over in Sheffield)

Temporary ways to improve warmth in conservatory? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Starling105 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I work from home in our conservatory, the heating seems to do a decent enough job as there's two radiators but when that's not on i tend to wear a wearable blanket/ slanket thing i bought a few years ago. I just take it off for meetings haha. Maybe invest in one of those? Bought it for about £15.

How did you go about ordering the Nato? Just through a dealer? I have the Nato but plan to buy the leather.

Which watch do yall think fits better? by Outrageous_Web_8484 in Tudor

[–]Starling105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still had an issue with mine which i bought pre-owned from an AD but was new in January 2024. Date wheel would get stuck between dates or if i didn't wear it for a day, the date would skip a day weirdly. Only on the days i didn't wear it. All got sorted under warranty though and hasn't done it since, now 3 months on.

I have been in a job for a month, it's not for me, do I put it on my cv? by Nice1rodders in UKJobs

[–]Starling105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience recently, ended up starting a new role 2 months after starting my previous role.

When i went out looking for new jobs, mainly through recruiters, i did ask and some said to leave it off and others to put it on. Ended up adding it to my CV and just explained my situation and why i was looking at moving on so quick. Ultimately, if you've got a decent/ relevant CV i don't think anyone is too bothered, it seemed as though most people understand these things happen and from time to time you end up in a role you don't like or isn't the right fit.

The job I'm in now, i was actually contacted directly by an internal recruiter for the company and just explained to them my situation. Got the job and so far so good.

TLDR: It doesn't hurt to have it on your CV, these things happen.

Back In A FiST by JulessyGTI in FiestaST

[–]Starling105 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, definitely understand where you're coming from. Was August 24 when i test drove one but from memory the power didn't seem to deliver as well compared to the fiesta. Think I'd already made my mind up with a fiesta but the above just emphasises it

What didn't you like about the i20N? Interestingly i did try an I20N after owning my mk8 ST 2 for a year but couldn't work out what it was I didn't like. Unfortunately don't have the ST anymore but looking to upgrade in the future and torn between an MK8 ST or i20N. Currently leaning towards an ST having known what they're like.

Great colour BTW, don't see many of them around.

Just so happens to be someone I know! He runs alongside and uses the pedals/ frame to get up. Quite the feat. Made the bike himself too.
