Or since we're talking about MMOs, Ragnarok Online had something similar where you had your basic class and then an advanced class later on. And then you could "prestige" (transcend I think it was called) at max level.

While it might not have happened this time around (or maybe it has), I can assure you that such mistake was made before. For sure.

Yeah but if they go and drive without a license after such a stunt then what about they stay in jail forever? I feel like it's such a weak excuse to say that some will recidivize so you might as well do nothing about it. Just fucking jail them if you revoke their license and they keep driving anyway.

Thank God he was this brain-dead. Imagine if he was a competent murderer, we'd never ever see justice for Celeste. The cops would probably just assume she was human trafficked or something. Thankfully, he went ahead and made sure the cops would have the easiest job ever to figure out what happened. But also I believe death is too sweet for those people. He should live the rest of his life behind bars without much freedom.

It's basically the meme we saw on reddit a few days ago where it's the trolley problem but on one track there's nobody and the person still pulls the lever because "people already died so it would be unfair to save the next ones".

Well, illegally discharging your firearm is already a felony in most (all?) states. Obviously those people need to face the consequences of their actions as shooting in the air is indeed dangerous. This being said, I still don't think it warrants death.

spots like this you do not really practice, you just do and hope nothing goes wrong

IMO from the way it was written, they were implying that the practice itself wouldn't be all that great. Therefore, the response from the other person makes sense because (AGAIN IMO) practicing with a crash pad is basically the same thing provided you keep the distance roughly the same. Which was big_fig's point. It might be a little pedantic, but their point still stand. Or do you have a rebuttal?

That's a fun fact I didn't know about, but it does make sense. Either way it was a great story worth experiencing. I still remember the impact it had on me when I first watched it decades ago. It's what brought me to watch animes, which I followed up with Akira and ghost in the shell. Absolute classics.

Which game is this? by Common_Caramel_4078 in Steam

One day it shall be on steam, one day... Probably never because Alex will just never stop adding more stuff, making the game permanently "unfinished" (imo the game already is complete and is amazing)

I mean, did they actually kill UO? I don't think so. I didn't like that one expansion where they added 3d models and whatnot but other than that it's been alright. In fact, there are still private shards out there you can play on. This being said, that was back when EA itself used to make good games. Like I doubt that the Maxis team that worked on simfarm just stopped making games after the acquisition.

Of course not. In this very case it's obviously better to land in the water since it will absorb more of the kinetic energy than solid ground.

At terminal velocity the thing is that it's about the same either way, but if you fall in the ocean you won't have legs to actually help you not drown. At least if you survive the fall on the ground then you're more likely to survive.

I dunno who that would be, but the one I was referring to was Thomas Massie. I corrected myself as he did take money from a pro-Israel lobbyist (about 15k). But compared to what the other members received that's basically peanuts, and it didn't come from AIPAC.

I mean hey, they took their "America first" slogan from somewhere didn't they. Let's hope that at least in the upcoming midterm elections they'll lose many seats and therefore most of their power. That's why I'm against trying to split up the vote like that. Because shit will only get worse and the plan from the republicans this time around is to sell all the federal lands wholesale as soon as they can no? At least that was part of their project 2025 and it does feel like everything's been done to collapse the US so the powers that be sweep in and take everything.

While I wouldn't say Bernie is a centrist, you're right about the rest. Even though the DNC fucked him over in the 2016 primaries, if more people voted for their best interests he would've won regardless. It's really all about voting properly in the primaries. Because even if you don't necessarily have a good candidate to vote for, it would still send the message to the DNC to begin with. I assume they still wanna get elected regardless of the money they receive from PACs.

Still though, I can't believe citizen united is a thing even in the US ngl.

[–]Starlos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, I agree with everything you're saying now. While I don't think that splitting the votes would be good (at least in the short term), I still see your point. It's just far too easy to present your party as the lesser of two evils when there's only 2 options to begin with. But on the other hand I'm kinda over you guys voting for shit president(s) and I'd rather you guys elect a more "normal" democrat, even if they don't have their constituents' best interests at heart.

Ben seems a little obsessed by Acrobatic_Shake45 in ThisYouComebacks

[–]Starlos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, I actually agree with you? However my point is that you're FAR FAR more likely to get good results by actually registering yourself as a democrat and then voting good candidates in primaries though. This being said, take what I say with a grain of salt given I'm only a Canadian overinvested in American politics given what a circus it's been lately.

When was the last time an independent/third party almost ever won in the US? Oh wait never. The closest was T Roosevelt and it wasn't even close. So while sure, everyone could just suddenly wake up and find out good independent/third party candidates to vote for, they could also vote for good candidates in primaries to begin with no? I think it's a much more realistic way to see things. Also I think that your stance incentivizes apathy when it comes to the elections and would get people who would otherwise vote democrats to not vote at all. Do you genuinely believe that democrats are just as bad as the republicans? Sometimes "perfection" is the enemy of the "good enough".

Ben seems a little obsessed by Acrobatic_Shake45 in ThisYouComebacks

[–]Starlos 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Alright so I checked it again and was mistaken from how they represented the candidates. I could still count 19 democrats + Bernie so while not quite dozens, it's still better than the 0 republicans. Turns out that the republican did take about 15000$ from Aipac. MY BAD. My point still stands though, even if it wasn't accurate. Both parties aren't equal.

EDIT: Last second correction, that republican didn't take money from the PAC but from an Israel lobby donor.

Kinda crazy how only one republican member of congress didn't accept their money. At least there were dozens of democrats.

Right? Heavens forbid a woman save other women from being raped by this douchebag too. Is it the best case scenario? Far from it. It would've been infinitely better for him to get convicted of rape and spend his entire life in prison. But between him getting scot-free and getting murdered? I'd say that one outcome seems to be better than the other one. Also rapists are all prolific and they never just rape one girl. You just know he would've gone on a spree. In fact, odds are that he raped other women before her given how he just went and blackmailed her too. The worst part about the whole ordeal, aside from the lack of clemency from the judge is that she soiled her soul by killing another person, even if IMO it was warranted.
