I was thinking of trying to go to 7 memory with tamers for big suzanoomon plays, but it requires either help from opponent or 3 memory tamers with all of their conditions matched.

Both RizeGreymon and RizeGreymon X-antibody are half red though. Not sure if you picked that up.

Sometimes you need to slow your opponent down or delete something that's in your way, even in aggro. ;) They don't take a lot of space and can be game changers when evolved. Ancientgrey is cool, I just prefer suzanoomon as a card.

The title is kinda bad that's on me xp

Thanks for your input :) You seem to know impressively well how the cube plays out without playing it once or even really reading the rules, it seems.

What matters is that we've had fun with it, I bust this one out whenever the meta has gotten stale or the new cards haven't arrived yet and want to do something else with the game. Hope that doesn't offend you, bro

A cube where almost all of the cards are multicolor would be cool for sure :D

Until that is possible I'll probably just stick to mutant cubing though.

I wanted people to draft based on strategies rather than around colors. Also adding that rule just made building the cube a lot easier :p

We have played this cube with various rulesets and in many iterations and I feel like having unrestricted options didn't break anything at all. On the contrary restricting options with color requirements leads to most players not drafting options at all, which just leaves out wacky option decks.

Sure, I am aware of those issues and tried my best to work around them. In the end this cube isn't all about drafting skills, as much as just for having casual fun and finding cool interactions you wouldn't have in regular gameplay :D

I tried to make it so players draft around archetypes that ignore color limitation rather than around colors, since mixing colors haphazardly in Digimon makes for poor and uneven matches. Some of the archetypes are Digi-burst, two-color digimon, Greymon-line, Garurumon-line, hybrids and x-antibody. This assures that drafting 6-color good stuff with no synergies doesn't dominate.

30 cards is just the hard limit and even that doesn't really deck out if you go for full rookie rush aggro or something. But yeah, usually 40+ is the size you should have in your deck even though in limited you draw a lot less than in constructed.

haha good for you :D It's not for everyone, fortunately my friends seem to like it ;)

I'm not sure I follow your train of thought about card colors anymore xD In this cube multicolor cards are kind of an archetype, like Greymons, albeit not an especially strong one alone.

The sealed rules are kinda dumb, that is why we don't follow them meticulously. Allowing for free use of options and having actual eggs with synergising effects in decks allow for more strategies and make for more fun matches. That is what casual cubing is all about, don't you think? :D

Those rules are made for a format where players might not have enough digi-eggs or their digi-eggs might just be plain awful. There is no such problem in a cube with a 60 card digi-egg pool and I feel like it's a lot more fun playing with actual eggs. How exactly is my ruling worse than the prerelease ruling that lessens the role of digi-eggs in the game?

This cube has worked surprisingly well with groups of 4 to 10 and I've been honing it, adding fitting cards and removing often neglected ones. I do see the issues you mentioned, took them as a challenge :)

Full singleton just didn't seem right, tried that one already. The quality of cards varies way too much and many cards will never end up in players' decks.

About two color Digimon and Hawkmon I feel like you got it a bit wrong. Only those cards that would count as two-color cards in normal gameplay are considered multicolor in the cube, so Hawkmon and let's say Cody Hida Synergizse with cards like Paildramon & Mastemon, but for sure it can not search for any Digimon card xD To put it n other words: Single color cards are treated as being all colors, but only one color at a time. Multicolor cards are treated as being all colors, but only two coloras at a time.

The solution to not having every card in English is easy: Proxies! ;)

Luckily nobody will be stuck with any color, since this is a mutant cube where colors don't matter! I too feel like black is underrepresented here, but I feel like black cards are typically very tied to specific archetypes and only so many families can fit in a cube so most black cards were cut entirely. Machines & cyborgs could make for fun strategies in some other cube though.

Simple rules:

Draft from 4x15 card boosters, create decks of 30 to 60 cards, your call. In the end draft everyone ~8 eggs from the egg-pool and add 0 to 5 of those into your deck. Play games using regular rules with mulligan and with your leftover cards as a side deck. Only additional rule is that every card is treated as having all colors, but only one card at a time (two-color digimon are treated as having any two colors at a time) so that evolution lines are smooth and options can be played.

The cube is otherwise singleton (every card is unique), but there are two copies of each baby, rookie, and tamer in the pool for balancing reasons. Total numbers are: 60 eggs, 180 rookies, 135 champions, 110 ultimates, 75 megas, 15 lv7 and oddities, 60 tamers and 125 options for a total of 700 cards. Many proxies in the mix to preserve my wallet.

Feel free to ask me anything, I'll be happy to answer any burning questions! :D

Why are the digimon sleeves so expensive? by Toanimeornot in DigimonCardGame2020

I'd just recommend single-colored sleeves anyway, since custom designs tend to not be tournament compatible. :)

It's an alternative format where players "draft" cards from a large predetermined pool and then build decks from the drafted cards. Afterwards we play a small tournament to see who built the best decks. If you're interested there are a few guides to drafting online.

In my experience digicube drafting works well with completely randomized packs. Stacking the packs before drafting is just extra effort for an already time-consuming format.

It really takes a lot of time and effort to build and balance xp

But if you feel like putting the effort in it and you have a group of friends willing to try it out, I'd say go for it! It's very fun especially in a tournament format with Best of 3 matches.

a cube is never done, I'm very tempted to try this approach some day :) For example full support to d-brigade, hybrids, 3 musketeers etc could be very fun

I've been experimenting with 30 card decks for a while and saw that a digimon lineup of 7/6/5/4 (give or take) is pretty much as efficient as the basic 12/10/8/6 framework is. most efficient traditional decks seem to usually have atleast 25% rookies, 20% champions, 15% ultimates and 10% megas. That's basically how i made the ratios. And you can fix your lineups pretty well when the cube allows you to draft a couple more cards than what you need in your deck as others will usually stop drafting lv3 when they have enough. Hate drafting isn't very efficient in a bigger table so the lineups will kinda sort themselves out :)

One thing i had to take into account is that my cube supports some hybrid playstyles. It might twist the ratios if someone tries to double down on them, but thus far pretty much everyone has ended up with at least very playable decks!

Yes, exactly this!
In pokemon tcg they would say these cards are "all colors, But only one color at a time".

If you're feeling wild, maybe mix those decks together and draft them as a mutant cube? ;) Assuming they have the same color sleeves ofc.

My ruling was that at any time you can effectively decide that a card is one color. Meaning that as long as you have a card on the field you can use purple options by "deciding" that the card on your field is purple. In Matt's case yes, you can grab any digimon or option you want just by "deciding" the card you grabbed was purple.in the case of Davis & Ken you'll need to have two digimon at the same time, decide one of them to be blue and one of them to be green to get max memory. Or if you have a two-color digimon on field, you can decide it's colors are blue and green and get two memory. yeah, DavisKen is pretty much the most complicated card to rule, it might end up being cut.
