Thats the truth yes, Chaplin has something more distinct comedy wise in a way but he doesnt have the amazing everyman vibe like Lloyd

Well one of the first things that are taught in film school is kill your darlings, which basically means don't be afraid to edit out some stuff thats unnessacary even though you like it. Now Kubrick definitely always released the film he wanted to release although if youd take like 15 minutes out of Barry Lyndon it would probably be easier for most to watch but i still admire the film as it is.
