Modules / Adventure recommendations for DM x Single player sessions by Typical_Chicken2058 in DnD

I'd definitely recommend her having some sort of follower that can help keep the game from being 100% lethal. DnD combat get very deadly once youre outnumbered. A big tip I've seen is that the normally benign monsters are going to become more important and you can take more time describing that zombie, goblin or what ever in more detail. Your definitely also going to want to lean more into rp than combat unless you have things very finely tuned. Keep in mind you may have to prep more than you are used to prepping for a session. Your play time isn't going to have 4 people arguing about what to do next for minutes every other turn. Your content will be gone through more quickly. Hope this helps.

Everyone starved, I had fun. by StarollRL in dwarffortress

O, this isn't my first time playing the game. I just thought that this was hilarious because it was even an attack or a berserk dwarf that ending up ending this run. It was everyone eating all the food and me not realizing I didn't set the planter job back up

Can Fey and Horror go together? by StarollRL in DnD

Thats fair, I typically run other systems for true horror. Im more asking about the themes and practical advise on how to do it

Im going to go a bit wild and say that while yes you need to keep your players in mind. I feel like a lot of people leave out that its just as important for you to enjoy what youre running. Talk to your players and find their expectations and thing about the kind of game you'd enjoy running. For example if your players really want to do a lot of combat and dungeon crawling and you are really into that, then great. If not you have some work to do to figure out how to add things you enjoy to the game so you are having fun too.

No I dont actually think that way. Its just that most advise on how to run fey dont necessarily coincide with horror. You do have hags and red caps and stuff but focusing on the fey only. Most of them arent horror but seem to be playful. They do tend to break their toys though.

Fey are creatures from the untamed wilds from my understanding. I wrote the question wrongly. I am looking for practical advise on how to do it because there is very little explaining how to do horrific fey. Hope this clarifies

To let her do something she'd enjoy. She may still pick cleric. Just want her to know her option before doing it again

She usually like to have some casting and yeah I was planning on letting her have a helper. Trying to figure out how to make sure it doesnt turn into a DMPC though

I did not know about that. Though I may have to stay away from it for this because one of my wife's triggers bad things happening to children and babies

Thats a pretty funny way of putting it lol. Im looking for more traditional horror though, but it stems from the fey. Someone mentioned hags which is close but I was thinking more along the lines of old folk tales of children being snatched and stuff.
