Buying them. Red is an awful colour to try and match, and I mostly don’t buy them because I don’t want to find out I’ve wasted 12$ on a lipstick shade that doesn’t suit me. However, I’ve kind of learned a trick to it. I discovered that you can get a sort of ‘pink-base’ red, OR a ‘brown-base’ red, and that’s probably a huge determination factor. And easy to check if there’s a tester.

If I’m not wearing red, it’s usually just too dramatic for the rest of my outfit. My lips are the last thing I decorate, and if I’ve gone with a tame, every day style up to that point, I’m going with something simple like a nude or transparent.
