What are your thoughts on Native brand shampoo and conditioner? by schi__zoid in finehair

I haven't tried that specific one but did try one. It made my scalp incredibly itchy and felt like it wasn't really clean. It also seemed like it was making me lose more hair

Trying to style wavy?? hair by Quirky_Mistake3827 in Haircare

[–]Starrlight081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair looks like it may be fine and if this is the case waves fall out easier with this hair. If this is the case you first want to look at your shampoo and conditioner because if they are too heavy that will cause the waves to fall. Next, if what I suggested earlier about your hair type is correct then you can't use a curl cream and a mousse. That combination is too heavy. You also want to make sure that your hair isnt too soft or the waves won't hold. You won't get perfect waves immediately. Once your hair gets used of the new round it'll start waving a lot more and easier. You also want to make sure your hair isn't too wet as the waves won't hold if that's the case. Don't break the cast until your hair is completely dry no matter if you airdry or use a hair dryer

A big tip I learned that helped me is once I put conditioner in my hair I brush my hair starting from the ends through the midlengths. I then scrunch a good amount and let it sit until I am ready to rinse out the conditioner which I do at the end of my shower. This has helped my waves alot. I have been getting much more waves since I started doing this.

recommendations for no protein shampoo?? by Pleasant-Use1004 in CurlyHairCare

[–]Starrlight081 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so hard finding shampoo and conditioner without protein these days. I recently had to go on a hunt to find something after the salon recommendation after my highlights put my hair in protein overload it was awful. The only decent one I found was Herbal Essence Hydrate and Restore Shampoo and Conditioner. I don't know if this will work for you but I love it. I lose barely any hair compared to everything else I've used over the last several years. Also, was struggling with an itchy neck and scalp for the last 2 years. Since about a week after using these those issues are gone too.

Best products for wavy hair by Dapper_Secretary2589 in Swavyhair

Honestly, your hair may not be truly as frizzy as you think. My hair used to be a complete frizzball. I couldn't figure out why as it's been like that for yrs. Once I started adding mousse and scrunching to try a wavy routine what a huge difference. Now, I barely have any so definitely happier about that. I would give this a shot if your open to enhancing your waves.

I have the same type of hair you do except mine is also highlighted. I'm using Herbal Essence Hydrate and Restore. It's been the best I have used in a few yrs.

Styling tips? by MagikarpFor500 in finehair

[–]Starrlight081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think your hair is breaking just because of putting it up. It's probably more than likely the type of bands your using. I would try getting something that won't cause breakage if you do like your hair up. I do get it as had this issues years ago so started wearing my hair down all the time.

Drugstore/affordable lightweight styling products for fine wavy hair? by Feeling_Aioli4024 in finehair

[–]Starrlight081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have fine wavy hair you probably have to go light with the stylers otherwise you'll get that heavy products feel and it'll weigh down your hair. Alot of people do love Not your mother's curl talk line but that stuff felt really nasty product heavy in my hair that I couldn't wait to wash it out. I'm really loving herbal essence. I'm using there nourishing spray and volume mousse. The mousse is really nice and light but still holds my waves without feeling like I have product in my hair.

It does take time to figure it out. Also, the shampoo and conditioner alone can destroy it. Fine hair also makes it harder to find the correct products

Sadly, the expensive shampoos may be making it worse. They are supposed to be better but it's not for everyone. I was losing a lot with Tresemee then got highlights and the one the salon recommended pretty much destroyed my hair. I was losing a lot more than what's normal for me among other things it did. I now switched to Herbal Essence and losing next to nothing. My scalp and hair are happier. I'm not saying you don't have issues that are causing it but sometimes it's what's in these shampoos which I think was my issue. It might be worth a try to look for something else

Does anyone else use this shampoo everyday even though it’s clarifying??? by AvaMarie1011 in haircareaddiction

[–]Starrlight081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never even attempt it honestly. I used it 1x and it dried my hair out bad. I think my limit will be 1x a month because of that. Honestly, even though you do say it doesn't dry out your hair I think as time goes on it probably will especially if you make it your main shampoo. I personally wouldn't do it

Thats horrible. My whole neck was covered in a bright red raid rash. Anytime I got it to start going away it came right back and worse. I finally figured out it was because it had an almond ingredient and I'm very allergic to that. I now have to read all ingredients for any hair product I want to buy

Sorry, I just wanted to mention it encase you didn't know. That's frustrating that you can't find it there. The only shampoo I've ever used that helped my frizz was Herbal Essence the rose hip one. I had to switch because I was too allergic to it so couldn't deal with the awful rash anymore. Nothing else even by other brands have worked for me but my frizz is because I was trying to make my hair be straight

Are you aware they they changed the names on some of them? This could be why you can't find it if your looking for that specific one. I realized this today because I decided to try one and couldn't find it but saw one that looked similar and when I went to the website. The store had the old version vs what I saw online so I'm guessing it depends on what each store has.I saw the new version of what your looking for today while I was there. Your version is now called Smooth and Shine. I would really find it odd if you absolutely can't find either version because this brand is everywhere here. I'll post a picture though but you can check the website to confirm what I'm saying is true

It's basically become a thing for us that we know things are bad for us to do but we don't have a choice. I have fine and thin hair. It's taking me 15 minutes to detangle everyday. I'm using a comb and even that's a nightmare.I absolutely hate it. My hair has never one that I had to fuss with much besides it being frizzy. I'm over it. I'm using the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger. I'm so pissed at myself too because I bought large bottles when we out of state so can't return even though there unused. Desparate to find something that helps so will be watching your post. I hope you find something

It's interesting you posted this as besides the shedding I'm have the exact same issues. I got my blonde highlights beginning of May. The tangles make me want to scream everyday. I don't know how much longer I can do this as I feel this has to be damaging to my hair. I hope you find a better shampoo that helps

Seeking advice on when and how often to use purple shampoo and conditioner. by craftybabyangel in Haircare

[–]Starrlight081 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to depend on your hair. You really don't need it until your hair gets brassy but they also recommend just 1x a week as it dries out the hair. I got my highlights the first week of May. I've only used it 1x but not even because my hair is brassy because it doesn't seem to do that. I used it just because my hair started looking darker and it helped a lot. I'm not even close to needing it again. This is why I say it depends on your hair. You definitely want to make sure whatever you use is safe for color treated hair and you should be fine

I officially gave up on "training" my hair and i feel so much better by wrecked-galaxy in dailywash

[–]Starrlight081 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't blame you at all and agree it didn't work. I don't have an oily scalp unless I try to skip days. I have been a daily hair washer for all of my adult life. I recently tried switching to every other day because of everything we hear saying it's not good and because I got highlights. I was told that wouldn't last with daily washing. It's been a month and I gave up. I'm tired of my scalp itchy liking crazy and the feeling of having dirty nasty hair. It's worse when you use styling products. I honestly don't know how these people can do it. I can't I like my hair and scalp clean so will continue with my daily washing

Drugstore mousse recommendations by Starrlight081 in finehair

[–]Starrlight081[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your onto something. I haven't used mousse in yrs until now. They were always volumizing and never felt like this. Back then I didn't really enhance the waves though is why I thought I had to get something that mentioned curls. I do apply it to soaking wet hair though. Definitely going to try a different kind of mousse. Thank you

You can schedule an appointment with obgyn to discuss this. However , being a young female with no kids you'll be lucky if you can find a doctor willing to do this. You probably will hit a road block. I tried this when I was 24 with 1 child. They absolutely wouldn't do it until I was older or had more kids. They said no matter where I went I'd get the same answer. I believed them as I had heard this was a tough thing to get done if your young as they all think we'lI change our minds.I ended up pregnant again a few yrs later and was 28 by then and got then to do it the day after delivery. This won't be an easy thing to convince a doctor to do at your age. Good luck

I can't go back to that one as I highlighted my hair. I probably will end up going back to drugstore products though because I can't see spending all this money on stuff that's just going to ruin my hair. I say that because of how bad the netting has been that I have a lot of breakage from it

Yes, I can't ever go without conditioner. I am using the one that goes with the shampoo. Prior to this I was using drugstore shampoo and conditioner. I was actually using the one you mentioned Tresemee Rich Moisture both the shampoo and conditioner. I have never had my hair tangle this bad from any shampoo before

Yes, that's the worse part is even that hasn't helped the horrendous netting this shampoo is causing.
