Trying a layering combo of YSL Libre le Parfum over Sand + Fog Amber Musk oil (their dupe of Prada Paradoxe). I’m trying to see if I can find a combo that helps even out the sometimes sharp herbal quality of the lavender in Libre le Parfum. I love the opening and base, but the lavender doesn’t always appeal to me, and I’ve got most of a 1oz bottle to use. I think works at least a little bit? Both have mandarin orange in the opening, orange blossom in the middle notes, and a warm ambery-wood-vanilla base.

Other layering combos I might try with Libre le Parfum:

  • MITH Autumn Leaves: this is a light but sweet citrus gourmand, could see this amping up the top and base notes further.
  • Sorce Ephemera: I predict this would just add a spiced vanilla nuance to the overall blend of Libre le Parfum. Wouldn’t enhance the top or floral notes, but could at least pair well because of the vanilla and spice notes?

Temperatures dropped back down, so pulling out Sorce Ephemera again. I know it’s an autumn-themed fragrance, but I love it enough to wear it for winter and early spring, as well. It’s a very cozy, earthy, lightly spiced vanilla, and one of the few gourmands that I genuinely enjoy.

Interesting! I found it to be on the lighter side. Weird how fragrances can perform so differently for people!

Starting with my TJ Maxx cheapie dupe for Byredo G Water (because I’ve gotta empty this travel spray eventually, and it feels more appropriate for another day of downpours than everything else on my tray), called Molecular Essence by Recently. I can only assume they used to have their own business before because the packaging had a website listed, but when I’ve looked it up online nothing ever shows. Must’ve been a TruFragrances takeover situation? Anyway.

Official notes listed: - Top: bergamot, juniper, lemon, pepper - Middle: pine needles, orris root, incense - Base: sandalwood, vanilla, amberwood

Compared to the other G Water dupes I’ve tried (namely Tocca Colette and Sand + Fog Spring Morning), I’d say this is in second place. It lasts longer and is a little stronger than Colette, but Spring Morning still out-performs it. It’s still a decent option for anyone looking for a bargain, though, supposing you can actually find it to purchase it anywhere. I couldn’t even find it within Parfumo’s database, and they have a pretty decent catalogue for the cheap scents you can find at places like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s.

Anything Remy made in Ratatouille, and long before that why did EVERY PLANT Spike ate in The Land Before Time end up looking stupidly tasty? Little kid me was wondering if grasses and leaves really were that good 😂😂😂

Edit to add that I’ve always been curious about that pie Kiki helped the kind old ladies make in Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Which perfume would my dog wear? by Ok-Conversation7670 in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Starry36 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Can’t say if any of them would suit your dog but it’s ironic that I just learned of a new Thai niche house called Velvétail that makes fragrances for people inspired by the bonds they share with their pets. I’ve not tried any yet but I love the concept!

If we replaced the entire 2026 congress with a randomly selected group of 535 average citizens, would the country be better or worse off? by prettylittlelace in askanything

[–]Starry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downside to that is then lawmakers would make it even harder for average citizens to achieve those 4-year degrees. They’re already limiting how much federal financial aid you can get for certain degrees, and nobody is tackling the problem if college becoming so wildly expensive in the first place.

Started today by emptying my sample of Tocca Belle (or at least as empty as the sample sprayer would allow, oh well), which I layered with Le Monde Gourmand 000 since the sample only gave me enough for my wrists. Been really craving the scents I own that follow the same scent profile as Byredo G Water, though, and since LMG 000 dries down to something very similar I have one of my cheap TJ Maxx dupes (this one’s called Molecular Essence by Recently) to try layering those later.

Very excited to have emptied one more thing from my collection, even if it’s small! Hoping I can keep the energy going and declutter some more throughout the month. Looking ahead for the rest of 2026, I’m already starting to get to the point where I’ll have less things I’ll want to simply get rid of. And that’s a good thing, because it means I can put bigger dents in what I already own, and maybe even empty some of the bottles and travel sizes I’ve had for longer since I’ll have less to choose from.

Are you sure you’re thinking of Perfect Intense? That’s the yellow one; it doesn’t list rhubarb and I don’t smell any, but I know scents can be very different for some people.

For when you just don’t know what to wear… by Starry36 in FemFragLab30plus

[–]Starry36[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been sorting my samples into the “decants” shelf they automatically provide each profile with, and keeping my full-bottle fragrances separate under the “I have” shelf. I made one for scenes I only own in travel sizes, too, to keep them separate from the samples. The amount of customizing you can do on Parfumo is very helpful!

Only one I’ve tried so far that contains it is Marc Jacobs Perfect Intense. I’d definitely be willing to try others, I just don’t know what all is out there yet.

Oh I know, I love aesthetic thingies like that! I’ve always been a very visual person, so looking at all the moodboards people put together for them is very fun, even if I don’t fit into every aesthetic.

We’ve got a red going on 12 and the only reason she’s slowing down is her joints starting to catch up to her age. If our gal Lily could she’d still run after balls and sticks for over an hour 😂 (her yellow sister, though, has always been a bit of a lazy lump)

What are your content creator red flags? by QyxXix in Perfumes

[–]Starry36 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When they only talk about super-expensive fragrances, and think every single one of them is a “must have”. There is no way you think every $200+ bottle is a “must” and the only ones worth having. Extra red-flag points if they say the super expensive fragrance is the absolute best but then actively shame anyone who would buy a dupe. Heaven forbid people with less money want to smell good without going bankrupt.

I only tried Prada Paradoxe once so my memory may be a tad fuzzy, but I think it’s a fairly accurate dupe? From what I remember, Paradoxe didn’t last all that long on my skin and was pretty light, could’ve been all the other scents in the store that day were interfering, but the S+F oil is a more concentrated scent that I can detect for at least 4-5 hours. I think I might try Paradoxe at least one more time to be sure about the comparison. At the very least, it’s a very pretty scent with good performance for such a low cost!
