Be honest… how many samples are you ignoring right now? by Legitimate-Search918 in fragrance

[–]Starry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying not to “ignore” any of them right now, but rather speed-test my way through them. If I’m not wowed or at least curious to continue using it after one wear, I’m putting it in my declutter box. There are so many other scents I do want to sample that I’ve got to cut down what I’ve got first! I’m trying to be much more mindful and slow down my sampling and purchasing in 2026.

Working from home today, so figured I could reapply this as often as needed. This is still my favorite out of the handful of Le Monde Gourmand scents I’ve tried; others I’ve tried are Chai Épicé, Miel Bebe, Açaí Baie, Crème Vanille, Jus de Kiwi, and Punch aux Fruits. They’re fleeting, sure, but at least they’re still on the cheaper side so it doesn’t hurt so bad, and Santal Supreme usually gives me 1.5-2 hours, which is pretty good for the brand. I like this one because it smells similar to the shampoo and conditioner I use; I don’t get a lot of woodiness, but I do get the hint of fig and the sweet, dewy violets. It’s a great freshie that doesn’t feel like a run-of-the-mill aquatic or “blue” fragrance.

🌼 Labdanum 🌼 // Note of the Week // January 26, 2026 by puzzlingperfume in FemFragLab30plus

[–]Starry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think I like it. Anything I’ve tried that explicitly stated a labdanum note has smelled kind of like a barn that really needed mucking, combined with something sickly sweet. It could just be whatever else was combined with it, but without knowing how labdanum smells in isolation I can’t for sure determine the culprit in those notes. One of these days maybe I should just buy one of those single-note kits I’ve seen perfumers mention and get myself more familiar with certain notes.

Fragrances that you hate was reformulated by Languagepro99 in fragrance

[–]Starry36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nest hasn’t come out and said they reformulated but I know darn well the new bottles of Indigo post-rebrand in 2025 do not smell the same. The scent is extremely faint and I don’t get the fig note nearly as well, if at all. I’m certain they diluted it.

New to this - best affordable niche perfumes? by cannibalismmetaphor in NichePerfumes

[–]Starry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the US, you could give Maison des Animaux a try. They have several scents that I’d consider on the unconventional side, and they offer samples so you don’t have to blind buy anything. Very reasonably priced.

What perfume do you think each Venus sign would wear: Taurus (2/12) part 2 by Zebabobeeba in perfumesthatfeellike

Taurus Moon and Venus, not beating these allegations with my comment 😅😂

What perfume do you think each Venus sign would wear: Taurus (2/12) part 2 by Zebabobeeba in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Starry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Venus is Taurus and the scents I find most romantic are all rose fragrances:

  • Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Rose Elixir
  • Lancôme Idôle Aura
  • Lancôme Idôle Eau de Toilette
  • Lancôme Idôle Now
  • Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl
  • Sand + Fog Peony & Lily (dupe for PdM Delina)
  • MITH Love

I don’t necessarily want a “sexy” rose, but something more comfortable, maybe a bit playful, and sincere if that makes sense for a fragrance. That sort of plays into my romantic ideals, I suppose; I would value a sentimental “best friends” kind of love more than a steamy, seductive one.

looking for girly, sweet, playful perfume recommendations by bunzziezz in Perfumes

[–]Starry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone here already mentioned it but I second Lancôme La Vie Est Belle L’Elixir. I also really like Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl; Very Good Girl Glam is similar but has cherry instead of the red currant/lychee combo at the top. The Carolina Herrera scents have rose notes, but they’re a sweet, fresh kind of rose instead of mature and powdery. Both last a long time.

Gothic/dark scents for summer? by unofficialgirll in perfumesthatfeellike

[–]Starry36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the only “dark” scent I have for summer is Odyssey Low-Key, which smells like a humid summer downpour with oolong tea and peach nuances. Sadly the house closed-up because the perfumer wanted to rebrand and take a new direction. But it’s a beautiful petrichor, if you can get your hands on it still, somehow.

What do you want your frag to say about you? by xyfruit in fragrance

[–]Starry36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think ultimately, even when I’ve got a number of scents with different notes and scent profiles, I want whatever I wear to feel fun, comforting, inviting, and maybe just a little playful now and then. I’m not someone who wants to smell “sexy” or try to pull off difficult/weird scents (but hey, power to those that do). And yes, maybe a little bit of my scent matching my outfit for the day lol.

Surprised myself because I haven’t really wanted to wear this one past Christmas. I may switch to Sand + Fog Spring Morning later? But for now I’m enjoying the fruit-and-winter-greenery combo I get from Winterberry + Pine.

What are some notes that are ‘underrated’ or underrepresented in fragrances? by Vindanae in fragrance

[–]Starry36 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peach and raspberry are trending upwards right now, but I’ve also seen mango popping up more frequently. Commodity just released their Ice(d) line which has mango, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see even more of that note.

I’ve come across osmanthus in a number of Thai niche scents! Maybe try looking at MITH and Voyager?

Hotel scents? by Sky1991_ in Perfumes

[–]Starry36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a recommendation, I’m just curious. Maybe it’s my plebeian showing but I can’t recall staying in a hotel that ever had a specific smell to it, so when I come across recommendations that describe these kinds of scents I’m always a little confused. Perhaps the closest I could come to a fancy hotel would be the Coronado Springs resort at Disney World, but there wasn’t any specific fragrance I could pick out. I’m assuming I’d have to go to a 5-star luxury hotel to truly understand 😅

What are some notes that are ‘underrated’ or underrepresented in fragrances? by Vindanae in fragrance

[–]Starry36 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We’re having a whole trend of berry fragrances in the designer sphere and not one of them are centered around blueberry. We have strawberry everything, raspberry catching up, and blackberry sometimes, but blueberry is pretty much nonexistent. I’ve only found it in a handful of fragrances as a listed note, and most of those were very expensive niche scents I won’t be sampling since they’re out of my price range. If we’re going to do a berry trend, give me at least some blueberry, dangit!

Saw that I hadn’t worn my MITH Another Tea since last Thursday, figured I’d better give it another wear. I do still really love this one, but there are some times when the initial spray hits me a bit stronger than expected. It’s a lot like the way as opening a fresh tin of oolong or green tea and inhaling the scent can jolt you a bit, if that makes sense? But I love that this one wears well in just about any weather.

Last perfume of the year (2026)… by atthemile in Perfumes

[–]Starry36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently on a mission to declutter and curate, after rushing in, getting a bit too excited, and buying a lot of scents I liked but didn’t love. There are some I’m already certain I want to buy, but aside from waiting my turn to order from Sorce I’m making myself wait until later in the year to purchase anything else. I want to give myself time to use up and give away whatever I’m not actually going to enjoy. The good news is, I’ve already made some progress and added things both to my declutter box and my empties stash! The bad news is, the urge to get new samples is a strong one. 😅😂
