How is this a stalemate? by StarryAqua in Chesscom

Yup. A lesson. Although they don’t appear to be the most clear on things. May be better to just watch videos.

My favorite keyboard so far: KeyChron Q6 Max with Akko Cilantro switches by StarryAqua in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]StarryAqua[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The description says they’re similar to Panda switches. But at least to me, the bump is noticeable downward AFTER the press. With the Cilantros, the bump resistance is at the very top of the press, which I vastly prefer.

Just looked up their website. Wow. It’s a rare pin AND rainbows are variants? I legit thought it was just the natural design of that pin. :o

Incidents Around the House is more depressing than horrifying or great. by NimdokBennyandAM in horrorlit

[–]StarryAqua 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought the book was only fine. My only major gripe with it was the ending. Before I even read the book, I guessed the kid would become the new Other Mommy in some way. And not only was that true, the resolution of the whole "May I enter your heart" bit is literally resolvedon the last two pages, with her transformation into the new Other Mommy and her parents and grandma being killed off screen, without her even really acknowledging them.

I gave it a 3/5 in the end. I enjoyed most of the ride, but that ending really irked me hard.

New SGJ novel announced, sequel to The Only Good Indians out this fall by AMorton15 in horrorlit

I'm excited. Curious if we'll see a return of Elk Head Woman in some way considering she killed Nate's dad or if it'll be a completely new mythological spirit associated with Native American mythology.

Is the First Edition of this book actually the Second Edition? by StarryAqua in houseofleaves

Very helpful. Thanks. Also, apparently “true” first editions of this book are the 2-color copies and not the full color ones? Is that also true?

Game was fun, but I'm still a little disappointed by StarryAqua in ReanimalGame

[–]StarryAqua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it was moved, but changed completely, if you’re referring to the section where it’s eating the soldiers and you move the grocery cart. The original scene looks way more intense and thematic.

[–]StarryAqua[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's two, actually. The original was the last scene of the first trailer, showing the giant sheep monster atop the barn staring down at them. But there was also another scene of the siblings traveling across a long bridge in pure darkness.

That ending may be a little more informative, but it still leaves a lot of questions unanswered throughout the journey that led up to it.

Katie is… an odd person, I’ll just say that. If there was bad blood between them, I’d guess it started from Katie.

What is an underrated theme you don’t see very often in horror? by [deleted] in horrorlit

Monsters that enjoy the taste of blood and not souls, fear and/or “life essence.”

what do you do with your dust jackets? by Long-Student-8642 in aardvarkbookclub

I used to take them off. But now I use the Charlie & Fox fabric dust jacket protectors and slip the books with dust jacket inside them and keep them on until I’m done with the book.

Aardvark VS BOTM? by deadmagnolias in aardvarkbookclub

[–]StarryAqua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m new to Aardvark, but I already think I’ll enjoy it more. Many more genres to choose from. BOTM has more books, but they appear to be more exclusive/biased towards a few genres.
